Another student project feature today, and this time we spoke to the wonderful Toby Adams about his work as part of the 'From Insight to Action' Future Now brief 💭✨ In this group project, Toby and his team were able to use data and insights provided by SYMCA to propose a new project that aims to encourage active travel across our city of Sheffield 🚴♂️🚶 Toby created some fab concept sketches for his group, which helped them to clearly tell the narrative of how they arrived at their chosen concept. He also created a prototype app design for their project, showing just how multi-talented our students really are! ✍️🔥 The project concept 'Shack' provides safe spaces for bike storage across the city in order to encourage those worried about bike theft within the city to choose active travel. Shack also includes a rewards-based app scheme where users can exchange miles travelled by walking or cycling for rewards at local businesses. Yesterday Caroline, the original cyclist, volunteer, and co-creator of Sheffield Cycling 4 All, took Ed Clancy, Active Travel Commissioner for South Yorkshire out for a little ride. Caroline showed Ed and the team what a difference dropped curbs make, and good cycling infrastructure like segregated cycle paths, and dedicated cycle crossing. The film follows student Abba-Yaa, who is haunted by Kai, the child spirit she is researching. Abba-Yaa gets more than she bargained for when she discovers the true horrors of the past.
