Whether it be from the sky in an advanced aircraft, on the ground in an Amphibious Assault Vehicle, or at sea in a Zodiac Combat Rubber Reconnaissance Craft, communications are critical to the success of the mission. Without Communications Officers leading their Marines and overseeing their training, vital communications equipment and networks wouldn’t be set up and the various branches of the Marine Air Ground Task Force wouldn’t be able to coordinate their efforts. Without good comms, Reconnaissance units can’t relay vital intelligence to commanders, commanders cannot relay their orders to subordinate commanders, and Marines may get hurt or worse. The Communications Officer plays an irreplaceable part in the overall success of the MAGTF’s mission. #usmc #usmcocs #marinecommunications #communicationsofficer #utdallas #udallas #tamucommerce #smu #uttyler #sfasu #uarkansas #ualittlerock

For the Marines there is one main entry into the Corps to become an Officer, Officer Candidate School. Set in the woods and hills of Quantico, Virginia, this arduous and challenging course is the first step towards becoming one of the few that can lead Marines. The core values of Honor, Courage, and Commitment are instilled into each candidate every day through the tireless dedication of their Sergeant Instructors. Through leadership training, academic study and physical training the candidate is made into a well rounded leader, follower, and peer that their fellow candidates can rely upon when times get tough. Only a few can become Marines, and even fewer can become Officers of Marines. #ocs #usmcocs #officercandidateschool #leadership #officercandidatecourse #platoonleaderscourse #utdallas #udallas #smu #tamucommerce #uttyler #sfasu #uarkansas #ualittlerock

Marines Officers lead their Marines overseas on Marine Expeditionary Units (MEUs) to respond to a wide variety of situations. Whether it be rendering humanitarian aid to a tsunami stricken town, evacuating civilians and Americans from a war zone, or training allied militaries and security forces, the Marines are the flexible force in readiness that America calls upon. Marine Officers plan, coordinate, execute and lead their Marines in these versatile units across any mission the MEU is tasked with. Marines are known for being expeditionary and highly mobile. In fact they pride themselves on being able to move rapidly. Critical to this is the Logistics Officer. The Logistics Officer is a master of supply chain management and convoy operations. They meticulously plan out every detail of getting the right gear to the right place and moving the Marines to the front lines as quickly as possible. They lead logistical Marines through any clime and terrain to ensure mission success in whatever the Marine Air Ground Task Force is moving to accomplish. Without the Logistics Officer and their Marines, the Task Force cannot move. The Assault Amphibious Vehicle Officer is a unique commander that crosses the lines between logistical supprt, combat support, and a direct combat role all in one position. These Officers command AAV units and make recommendations to Marine Air Ground Task Force Commanders on how they can move Marines from ship to shore and provide tactical support once on land. The AAV is a tracked amphibious vehicle that can function as either a land vehicle or a water craft, and is manned by a variety of weaponry to provide immediate fire support to the Marines disembarking once on land. When ashore these versatile machines can move swiftly around the battlefield, providing tactical options and maneuverability to ground force commanders. Officer Candidate School is the Marine Corps’ foundation for all Officers. Candidates endure the toughest entry level training the Marine Corps has to offer in the hills and woods of Quantico, Virginia. Leadership, follower-ship, teamwork, discipline, time management, and high pressure problem solving are what candidates learn and master. Becoming a Marine Officer takes the strongest will and determination, because an Officer holds their Marines’ lives in their hands. The seriousness of that responsibility demands the very best leadership and strength of mind, body, and character. Officer Candidate School instills these traits into each successful candidate. For those who want to lead Marines and make the difference in others’ lives, becoming a Marine Corps Officer is the way. When the Marines have to fight somewhere, they call upon the Infantry to win the battle. Every Marine Corps Officer learns the fundamentals to serve as a provisional rifle platoon commander, but then some Officers become Infantry Officers and master the trade. These Officers lead their Marines in often chaotic and fluid situations from the front and put themselves at the point of friction to ensure the mission gets completed. Manpower Officers do for the Marine Corps what a Human Resource Director does for their company; they find the right person for the right job. These highly intelligent Officers manage the talent distribution and the allocation of personnel across the Marine Corps. They serve as the principal supervisor for the unit’s administrative and clerical business, oversee the personnel reviewing system within the unit, and provide advisement to the commanding officer on procedural steps forward when the command wants to recognize a Marine’s exemplary achievement. Administrative issues can significantly impact the career and life plans of a Marine and their family, and the Manpower Officer is tasked with ensuring the Marine’s administrative needs are handled properly and smoothly. If you want to have a huge impact on the lives of Marines, becoming a Manpower Officer may be the path for you. Women have been an integral part of the Marine Corps since the first female Marine, Opha May Johnson joined the Corps in 1918 and have made significant contributions to the success of the Marine Corps’ mission to win America’s battles. In 1993 1st Lt Sarah Deal became the Marine Corps’ first female aviator flying the CH53 Super Stallion. She set a precedent that women could serve in combat oriented roles in the Corps alongside her male peers. Many more women would follow in her footsteps to serve in certain combat positions throughout the Corps, proving they were just as capable. Pioneers like 1st Lt Deal and their capabilities led the DoD in 2016 to formally remove all barriers for women entering into combat oriented roles. “The right people, to the right place, at the right time, with the right gear.” Whenever the Marines need to go somewhere, Logistics Officers plan out, oversee, and execute their movement. A Logistics Officer ensures their Logistics Marines carry out all tactical logistical functions in service to the Marine Air Ground Task Force (MAGTF). These functions include supply, maintenance, transportation, general engineering, health services and general services. If the MAGTF needs to move inland to resupply an isolated outpost, or if the MAGTF needs to build a campsite to render humanitarian aid to endangered civilians, the the Logistics Officers are the movers who make all the details play out. The Marine Corps is the nation’s 911 force it calls upon when chaos erupts. Marines guard American embassies around the world, including in hostile and high risk countries. When one of those embassies or another American facility overseas is under siege by hostile forces, the United States sends in a Fleet Anti-Terrorism Security Team (FAST) led by an Infantry Officer serving in the Marine Corps’ Security Forces Regiment. These Officers lead their highly trained and armed Marines in high risk security missions to secure American facilities overseas. Because they are the first American forces on the scene they are tasked with defending the facility until reinforcements can arrive. These Infantry Officers direct their platoon’s defensive postures from the walls and rooftops right next to their FAST Marines. Joining these highly capable and specialized FAST Marines as their Officer is difficult but rewarding. An Infantry Officer serving in this role can find themselves leading highly impactful missions that can have far reaching repercussions in America’s diplomatic strategy. There are a few memories that never fade in life. The birth of a child, marriage to a loved one, death of a parent. These memories shape the course of a person’s life afterwards. Earning the title Marine is one of those memories. The Eagle, Globe, and Anchor ceremony is the first time a candidate is called a Marine. It is a time honored tradition that represents the culmination of weeks of hard training that pushed the newly minted Marine to their limits, both physically and mentally. On August 1 Dallas OST Candidates Nicholas, Cornwell, and Goodwin officially earned their titles and were called United States Marines by their instructor staff. They joined the long line of those Marines who came before them and can now count themselves amongst brothers and sisters. Becoming a Marine is one of the hardest things to do in life, and requires the strongest will and commitment to their fellow candidates; but it is one of the greatest accomplishments they can earn. Marines are known for being tough and tenacious. They willingly endure grueling hours of pain, misery, and suffering in training to prepare for combat and the unknown. Whether it be resupplying a stranded outpost, fighting and protecting innocent lives in combat operations, or navigating flood waters for disaster relief, the mission is the same each time: win the battle and ensure those in danger get home alive. Marine Officers play a vital role in this mission by planning, coordinating, leading their Marines, and executing these missions throughout the world. Officers lead their Marines from the front in training for conditions as hard and realistic as possible, because they never know when America will call upon them. Wherever you find Marines, you will find a Marine Officer at the point of friction, directing and guiding their Marines through the chaos. If you have the drive and the desire to serve something greater than yourself and help others, becoming a Marine Corps Officer is a pathway towards that goal. Marines go everywhere America needs its finest fighting force. Whether that be at sea, in the air, or on land. The climate doesn't matter, the time doesn't matter, the route doesn't matter, not even the weather will matter. If America needs a battle to be won, it chooses the Marines to get the job done. All Marines are built with an innate sense of duty and commitment to their cause and each other. Few can become Marines, fewer still can become Officers of Marines. From the first days of Officer Candidate School, all Officer candidates undergo intensive leadership and teamwork training, are taught critical thinking skills in high stakes scenarios, and are pushed to their limits both physically and mentally everyday. The ones that can endure this pressure graduate to become Marine Corps Officers and go on to lead Marines across the world. The Marine Corps actively seeks out the best and brightest young Americans with a desire to serve something bigger than themselves, a desire to join the brotherhood and sisterhood of being a Marine, and have the indomintable will to succeed because they know others rely on them. If the MAGTF needs to conduct offensive military operations against a hostile force and needs a place to provide forward arming and refueling services, the Air Traffic Controller controls the flow of strike aircraft and fighter aircraft departing and returning to that forward airstrip. Sometimes the MAGTF needs to establish a mobile radar system to observe the air traffic within a contested region; the MAGTF sends an Air Traffic Controller to establish and run the system. If the runway becomes damaged in any way (such as an enemy bombardment), the Air Traffic Controller's extensive knowledge of the weights, landing space requirements, and take off lengths empowers them to find and create a new air strip for their aircraft to utilize. When the MAGTF needs to operate within a friendly nation, they take on a critical role called Airspace and Military Lisaon, where they coordinate and build with the host nation to ensure the safe handling of US military aircraft. If there were no Air Traffic Controller in the tower, the MAGTF would be unable to employ its aircraft, leaving a full 1/3 of the MAGTF unable to move and the Marines on the ground without air support. If you think you have what it takes to become one of these few and highly specialized Marines, the first step is mastering the fundamentals of leadership and team-work at Officer Candidate School, where all Marine Officers are created and made into leaders of Marines. In the 21st Century the battlefield is shifting away from strictly bullets and artillery to incorporating the digital world into the fight. Modern threats to the nation's computer networks and infrastructure can pose just as much danger as an enemy missile barrage. This is where the Marine Corps' 1702 Cyberspace Officer comes into the equation. These Marines are technical experts and proven leaders in the cyberwarfare and information maneuver spheres. From Offensive and Defensive Cyberspace Operations, to identifying and responding to attempted breaches of the nation's networks, to providing guidance to commanders about the employment of cyperspace systems and personnel, Cyberspace Officers fill a demanding and highly sought out role within the Marine Corps' growing Marine Corps Forces Cyberspace Command (MARFORCYBER). When the Marines are called to respond to all manners of scenarios across the globe, the reality of the day is that the digital realm can drastically effect the physical situation where the Marines have boots on the ground. When hostile actors attack the power grid or communication towers of a country struck by a natural disaster that Marines are responding to, the situation can devolve into chaos. Enabling those Marines to accomplish their mission with the vital cyberspace support they need is becoming more and more critical. The Marine Corps is actively seeking out highly motivated and knowledgable applicants looking to serve something greater than themselves with their skills in the digital world. #usmc #usmcocs #marinecyberspaceoperations #cyberwarfareoperations #cyberwarfareofficer #ostdallas #utdallas #udallas #smu #uttyler #tamucommerce #sfasu #uarkansas #ualittlerock

Marines are built to win America's battle, but sometimes that battlefield is a courtroom. Whether at home or abroad, the Marine Corps Judge Advocate Corps fights the legal battles that Marines may face. These Marine Officers perform the same duties as all other lawyers; to pursue the truth, ensure their clients get the full extent of their due process, protect the rights of their clients, and that the law is applied equally to all. The Marine Corps only seeks out the best and brightest to become Marine Corps JAG Officers, because the cases they will handle directly impact the future of the Marine Corps' greatest assets, the individual Marines. Applying the Uniform Code of Military Justice requires years of study to master the fundamentals of the law, and then undergoing a rigourous training program to learn the UCMJ before they can represent their clients. A Marine Corps JAG Officer serves the Marine Corps by serving the individual Marine in a way that no other Marine can. 1st Lt Holly Sandler made history in 2017 becoming the first female Marine to become an Artillery Officer, and went on to become a Firepower Control Team Leader and All Domain Effects Team Leader at one of Marine Artillery’s most specialized units. In the world of artillery the phrase “artillery is king of the battlefield” is often heard. This is because of the mass amount of firepower a single artillery battery can bring to the table. The Air Naval Gunfire Liaison Company (ANGLICO) embodies this saying. By specializing in coordinating air power, artillery fires, and naval firepower into a comprehensive fire support package from the ANGLICO operator’s radio, these highly specialized small teams deploy with Marine, joint and allied conventional and Special Operations Forces to augment that unit’s lethality. Low level static line airborne training, military freefall parachutist, survival-evasion-resistance-escape (SERE) training, and joint terminal attack controller (JTAC) certification are just some of the skills these highly sought after Marines can acquire; skills and training usually reserved strictly for Special Operations Forces. ANGLICO Marines are some of the DoD’s most sought after operators that can bridge the gap between the conventional forces and Special Operations Forces with ease. Candidate Nicolas is from Cedal Hill, Texas but moved to College Station to study History and Arab Studies at Texas A&M University in 2018, where he was an active member of the well known Texas A&M Corps of Cadets. After graduating he moved to Grapevine in 2023 to find work. He has a family history of Marine Corps service that inspired him to join. His uncle would tell him stories of being a Marine during the Vietnam War and helping to process refugees into the United States in California. Candidate Nicolas earnestly desires to help people in need, and believes the Marine Corps will enable him to do so because in his words "...the Marine Corps is the world's greatest fighting force, and the first to arrive at any conflict." The most impactful person in his life was Chief Master Sergeant Kieth Pinkard US Air Force (retired). He hopes to become an F-35B Lightning II pilot. The F-35B is the most advanced jet and VTOL platform in the military to date, and Candidate Nicolas plans to develop mastery of leadership by becoming extremely proficient in his field. When asked why he chose the Marine Corps over other opportunities, he stated "...I want my place in the world's greatest fighting force to be earned, not given." He joined the OST Dallas candidate pool in April 2023. He chose OST Dallas because he feels that Captain Moore and Staff Sergeant Posadas have been very welcoming and communicative, and he's grateful that they have been able to help him move towards his dream. His advice to other candidates is "...keep your head down, keep your nose to the grindstone. This is a door with many opportunities, do not stop knocking on it. Be your very best. Candidate Funston lived in San Antonio before moving to the Dallas-Fort Worth area in 2012. Growing up in San Antonio played a part in his desire to join the military, due to being around several military servicemembers during the peak of Operation Iraqi Freedom and listening to their stories. He attended Michigan State University and majored in Political Science. His ideal post in the Marines would be in Psychological Operations (PsyOps) as a Psychology Operations Officer. When asked who the most impactful person in his life is, he referenced Ndamukong Suh, an athlete who showed him to push himself even when things around him are challenging and difficult. He wants to join the brotherhood of Marines, gain stability in life, and opportunities to travel the world. He noticed that Marines of all eras have an innate bond that no other organization can match, and he wants to become a part of that shared culture. He first joined the Dallas OST's candidates in September 2022, and says that Dallas OST "...is a great place to prepare for OCS." His advice to other candidates is to attend all monthly candidate pool events and be patient with the application process. "If the Marine Corps is part of your dreams, don't give up no matter how long it takes." He hopes to begin Officer Candidate Course in September 2023 so he can earn the title Marine. #usmc #usmcocs #officercandidateschool #ostdallas #captainmoore #utdallas #udallas #tamucommerce #uttyler #smu #sfasu #uarkansas #ualittlerock

The Communications Officer (CommO) is the leader within the communications field. Military communications includes the design, installation, interconnection, operation and defense of networks in support of data systems to provide secure, non-secure, and coalition information exchange requirements in a tactical or garrison environment. The CommO commands a communications unit within the Marine Air Ground Task Force, and are responsible for all aspects of planning, installation, operation, displacement and maintenance of network, transmission, and data systems. They are the voice and ears of the command center. Without communications Marines led by their CommO, the commanding officer cannot receive the information he needs to make effective decisions. This is where technological skills and knowledge are leveraged to ensure success on the battlefield for the Marines engaged in forward operations. #communicationsofficer #marinecommunications #usmc #ostdallas #marineofficer #communicationnetwork #radio #utdallas #udallas #smu #dallascommunitycollege #tamucommerce #sfasu #uttyler #uarkansas #ualittlerock

The Officer Selection Team in Dallas (OST Dallas) has enabled Candidate Matheson to pursue his goals. A fellow Marine from his artillery battery informed him that OST Dallas would have the best candidates to train alongside, and the OST being easily accessible from his studies at UT Dallas led him to choosing OST Dallas over other options. He joined the pool in 2018 hoping to attend Platoon Leaders Course in Quantico, Virginia but had to withdraw from the program in late 2019. From Late 2021 to mid-2022 he affirmed his commitment to the Corps by putting his studies on hold to deploy with his artillery battery overseas from fall 2021 to summer 2022. This obstacle failed to stop him though, and he rejoined the OST Dallas pool in September 2022. He states he's always wanted to become an officer, and it's the reason why he chose the flexibility of the Reserves. He now hopes to transition to Active Duty to mentor and guide young Marines with his knowledge and experiences. When asked what advice he would impart to aspiring candidates, he quickly answered "...if you want it, then go for it. Take it day by day, week by week. The Marine Corps is what you make it. Like in life, there will be good days and bad days. Love your Marines, look out for them, and overall, just be a good dude or dudette." The US military comprises less than one half of 1% of the US population, and of that the Marine Corps represents only 14%. Marines are a rare and tough breed that pride themselves on teamwork, esprit de corps, and their core values of Honor, Courage, and Commitment. But rarer still is the officer who fills just under 12% of the Corps. But even more rare is the Mustang, a term affectionately given to those officers who rose from the enlisted ranks to become officers. Candidate Matheson is on the road to becoming one of these exceptionally uncommon Marines that know both the enlisted and the officer world. Those that serve with him and be served by him will undoubtedly be empowered to reach their full potential from his selfless service. Like most Marines, answering "who has been the most impactful person to you" is difficult. "This is hard to answer, as every Marine has left a lasting impact on me. But career wise my last Platoon Sergeant Gunnery Sergeant Leiseth had to have been the most impactful." The Gunnery Sergeant acted as Candidate Matheson's mentor and teacher, guiding him through the ranks from Lance Corporal to Staff Sergeant. Making the mental transition from follower to leader is often tricky for young Marines, but Gunnery Sergeant Leiseth was there to show Candidate Matheson how to become the leader of Marines he was meant to be. "He also challenged myself and those around him to better themselves constantly and without that I feel that I may not be where I am today." He wants to give back to the Corps what he has been given, what he calls his "...second home and family. I hope to be the change that some Marines are looking for along with providing leadership and guidance to young Marines that may feel lost. My goal is to help create and retain Marines that are both highly qualified Marines and leaders." This commitment to developing those around him stems from lessons from his father; "...to be the best you have to join the best. That was instilled in me when I was young by my father, and I never let it go." Candidate Matheson's dedication and commitment to the Marines will no doubt create a new generation of strong and capable warfighters ready to face 21st century problems. Those under his charge and working alongside him will be able to count themselves among the most fortunate Marines for having him there serving them. #utd #ud #tamucommerce #tamutexarkana #uttyler #sfasu #ualr #uca #usmc #universityofarkansasmonticello #ocs #marineofficer #marine #eagleglobeanchor #andrewmatheson #OSTDallas #dallasmarines #0802fieldartilleryofficer #marineartillery

While serving the Marine Corps as an enlisted CBRN Specialist, Candidate Matheson decided to pursue commissioning and become an officer. He graduated from UT Dallas in 2020 with a B.S. in Accounting, played club rugby and managed the team's treasury for two years. As an officer he wants to return to his artillery roots and strives to become an 0802 Field Artillery Officer. Of his ten years in the Marine Corps Reserves, he spent nine at an artillery battery. Many of his mentors came from the battery, and says "...I enjoy the culture, ops tempo and the direction that artillery is going with force design 2030." Candidate Matheson has a bright future ahead of him in the Marine Corps. He is scheduled to attend the Officer Candidate Course in September 2023 and graduate in November 2023. Following his entry level officer training, he will move on to The Basic School where he will learn the fundamentals of commanding a provisional rifle platoon before moving onto his MOS specialty. #utd #ud #tamucommerce #tamutexarkana #uttyler #sfasu #ualr #uca #usmc #universityofarkansasmonticello #ocs #marineofficer #marine #eagleglobeanchor #andrewmatheson #OSTDallas #dallasmarines #0802fieldartilleryofficer #marineartillery

Candidate Matheson is one of those types of people that his peers fight to have on their team because they know they can rely on him when things get tough. Born in Plano, TX but raised in Allen just outside of the greater Dallas area, Candidate Matheson came to see Allen as his hometown. It would be safe to say that he was born to become a Marine, following in his father's and grandfather's footsteps into the Corps, and joining the military service at large alongside his cousin in the Navy, and his uncles in the Army and the Navy. When asked what they taught him, he says "...their stories about their time in service brought me to studying and researching military history and drove me to wanting to join." But the greatest influence on his decision to join the Marines would have to be his father and grandfather. His grandfather would share his WWII stories in between his father's tales of serving as a CH-46 pilot during his Marine Corps service, leading Matheson to desire the hardest way to serve; "...further discussions with my dad and researching how they had the best and most demanding training solidified my choice." Candidate Matheson first joined the Marine Corps in 2012, attended Boot Camp at Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego in February 2013, and was slated to become a 5711 Chemical Biological Radiological Nuclear Defense Specialist. After completing his training, he served in Headquarters Battery and Delta Batteries, 2nd Battalion, 14th Marine Regiment before transferring to Headquarters Battery, 3rd Battalion, 12th Marine Regiment. He deployed with 3/12 to Okinawa and says "...going on deployment was the greatest experience of my career so far...being able to live in and travel through Japan was an incredible experience." #utd #ud #tamucommerce #tamutexarkana #uttyler #sfasu #ualr #uca #usmc #universityofarkansasmonticello #ocs #marineofficer #marine #eagleglobeanchor #andrewmatheson #OSTDallas #dallasmarines #0802fieldartilleryofficer #marineartillery

0204, Counterintelligence & Human Source Intelligence Officer (CI/HUMINT). Serving in both counterintelligence and human intelligence fields, these Marines command and lead units of highly trained intelligence Marines in tactical information gathering operations and activities. They command, plan, and lead these teams. Or when needed they operate independently to gather the right information at the right place and time for the task force commander's operational needs. Much of what these Marines do is highly sensitive in nature, so one can expect to be thoroughly vetted before beginning this exciting field. They serve as a detachment commander of other CI/HUMINT Marines attached to Marine Air Ground Task Forces or Joint Task Forces. CI/HUMINT officer duties comprise of conducting screening operations, counterintelligence surveys and investigations, interviews of person of intelligence interest or interrogations of enemy prisoners of war, translating key documents, or potential limited exploitation of captured materials, and general preparation of the unit's operational space. The opportunities to work alongside other services' intelligence wings and government agencies, gain invaluable language and cultural training, high level clearances, and connections makes this MOS highly competitive but able to change the entire theater of operations with a single conversation. The road to becoming one of these game changers begins at Officer Candidate School, where the expectations on candidates are no less than those on seasoned Marines. The ability to withstand discomfort, overcome adversity, operate within a team of people from diverse backgrounds, and an eagerness to serve something greater than oneself are put to the test at OCS. 0203, Ground Intelligence Officer. These Marines fully embody the notion of being a warrior and a scholar simultaenously. Ground Intelligence Officers serve as commanders and staff officers in operational forces throughout the Marine Corps and are responsible for tactical planning and employment of ground surveillance or highly skilled reconnaissance Marines. One moment you can find them planning out the stages of an upcoming reconnaissance operation, and then in another moment leading the Marines and Sailors on an intelligence gathering operation deep in contested territory, just to find them briefing that critical information sourced from multiple origins to the task force commander. These officers can be found leading both reconnaissance and counter-reconnaissance operations within a unit's area of responsibility. No matter where you find these highly intelligent and capable Marines, their work directly influences the success of the unit mission and the safety of the Marines and Sailors along the way. Because they are masters of both worlds, Ground Intelligence Officer can flexibly plan out and conduct intelligence gathering operations, or take command of a company of Infantry Marines or platoon of Reconnaissance and Scout Sniper Marines. A Ground Intelligence Officer is a vital Marine in the unit's pursuit of accomplishing the mission. When a commander needs specific questions answered, their Ground Intelligence Officer either has the answer or leads his or her Marines to acquire it. But when asked who is the most impactful person in his life he readily responded with, "The most impactful person on me in my daily life is my girlfriend, Sydney. Sydney has stuck with me from day one of me joining the pool, and she has supported me through it all. I would not have half of the progress I have made without her constant support and encouragement. I was scared the military life would scare her away, but she has embraced every challenge with me head on and I look forward to joining the Corps with her by my side." #utd #ud #tamucommerce #tamutexarkana #uttyler #sfasu #ualr #uca #usmc #universityofarkansasmonticello #ocs #marineofficer #marine #eagleglobeanchor #beauregardcastleberry #OSTDallas #dallasmarines

Candidate Castleberry has been fortunate to have multiple role models and an amazing support structure of friends and family that influenced his decision to put country before self. His uncles Phillip and Jeremy (who are both law enforcement officers) instilled a strong sense of protecting and leading others in him. He credits his desire to protect and serve others in the military to their stories of heroism and sacrifice from their time keeping their communities safe. Selfless service is not just a catchphrase to him, it is a calling. He already knows that after his service to the Corps, he intends to follow in his uncles' footsteps to protect and serve his community by joining them in Law Enforcement. His friend Josh Peyton already enlisted into the Marines and relays stories of comradery with fellow Marines and how earning the title Marine changed his life; Josh was the reason why Castleberry took the step to speak to a recruiter and begin his path towards serving. When asked about it, candidate Castleberry states "One of the biggest influences into joining the Marine Corps was one of my friends, Josh Peyton. Josh enlisted last year and I admired his courage and desire to join the Corps so much that I reached out to him, and he actually got me started down the path to contacting an OSO. I will be forever grateful and inspired by him for helping me start this journey and helping me get my foot in the door with the Corps, and I look forward to earning my place in this great brotherhood with him." There's no doubt that Josh played a pivotal role in leading Castleberry to choose the Marine Corps in particular. The immediate sense of family with other Marines, both in and out of uniform, runs deeper and stronger in those that have earned the title more than any other service. This pull towards brotherhood is what made Castleberry choose the Marine Corps. He explains it as "I joined the Marine Corps because I wanted to be a part of this great family, and be a part of something larger than myself." #utd #ud #tamucommerce #tamutexarkana #uttyler #sfasu #ualr #uca #usmc #universityofarkansasmonticello #ocs #marineofficer #marine #eagleglobeanchor

After graduation he is scheduled to attend Officer Candidate Course 245 in January 2024. He was fortunate to attend the Mini-OCS training event earlier this year in College Station, Texas, where he was challenged by the instructors and fellow candidates both physically and mentally. He intends to take the lessons learned and constructive criticism to improve himself before attending OCC 245. He looks forward to learning how to lead from the front, develop critical thinking skills, and leadership abilities so that he can put them to good use to take care of his future Marines. His dream job within the Marine Corps is 0402 Logistics Officer. Being a very punctual and scheduled person, his priority is to ensure Marines have what they need and when they need it to accomplish their mission. He already recognizes that quality leadership and communication skills are vital to the success of those that he serves, and while in the Corps he plans to build upon these skills. In everything he does he puts the needs and success of others before himself, a trait no doubt passed onto him from his uncles in law enforcement. #utd #ud #tamucommerce #tamutexarkana #uttyler #sfasu #ualr #uca #usmc #universityofarkansasmonticello #ocs #marineofficer #marine #eagleglobeanchor #beauregardcastleberry #OSTDallas #dallasmarines

1.) 0202, MAGTF Intelligence Officer. The Marine Air Ground Task Force cannot move forward or plan any operations without the intelligence and information it needs. The MAGTF Intelligence Officers lead and operate the Marines that act as the eyes and ears of the Task Force. After several years specializing in one of the primary fields of intelligence (0203 Ground Intelligence, 0204 Human Source & Counterintelligence, 0206 Signals & Electronic Intelligence, or 0207 Air Intelligence) Marine Intelligence Officers transition into the MAGTF Intelligence Officer field. They formulate plans, policies, and functions relating to intelligence operations, including the deployment of the Marine Corps' highly skilled Amphibious Reconnaissance and Force Reconnaissance Marines when supporting the MAGTF. Or if called upon, these highly skilled and versatile Intelligence Officers can fulfill these same roles and more in a Joint Task Force, working alongside other military and government intelligence agencies. Once they become MAGTF Intelligence Officers, these Marines are considered subject matter experts in all intelligence disciplines and their application across the full spectrum of military operations. To become one of these Marines a candidate first needs to complete the challenge of Officer Candidate School. There they develop discipline, leadership skills, an ability to operate within a team of new people, and how to overcome the seemingly impossible! As with every Marine Corps officer the first step is contacting an Officer Selection Officer and seeing if you meet the initial criteria. The Dallas Officer Selection Team can help you take the first steps into a challenging career that directly affects the prosperousness and security of the nation. When a Marine is having issues with their pay, travel, or Tricare for their dependents, they go to the Manpower Officer for help. When a Platoon Commander wants to recognize one of their Marines for outstanding achievement, they go through a Manpower Officer to start the awards process. It takes a highly organized and diligent Marine to become a Manpower Officer. Discipline, being highly skilled at organizing people, able to negotiate with department heads when needed, or able to command directives when the situation calls for a stronger hand, Manpower Officers lead, direct, and supervise the administrative demands of the Marine Corps. To become a Manpower Officer requires the same as it does of any Marine Officer; strength of character, intelligence, humility, and commitment to their Marines and the mission. Every Marine officer takes their first steps at Officer Candidate School, where the Corps' values of Honor, Courage, and Commitment are instilled into candidates from the moment they step off the bus. #utd #ud #tamucommerce #tamutexarkana #uttyler #sfasu #ualr #uca #usmc #combatengineer #ocs #marineofficer #marineadjutant #adjutant #manpowerofficer #marinecorpsadmin

Marine Corps Adjutants are Special Staff officers that are the Commanding Officer's go-to Marine whenever they need administrative expertise that affects all of their Marines. Having direct contact with the unit Commanding Officer, their knowledge, leadership, and advice directly influences the direction of the Commanding Officer's decision making. To become an Adjutant a Marine officer must first become a Manpower Officer, and then be assigned into the Adjutant billet. Because they are hand selected by their Commanding Officer, only the most reliable and professional officers are picked to become the unit Adjutant. Their duties can range from coordinating between departments to ensure all administrative tasks are accomplished, managing and publishing duty rosters, regulations and unit policies. One of the most important duties they perform are managing the unit's performance evaluations programs, directly effecting the lives and careers of all the Marines within the unit by ensuring evals are conducted fairly, correctly and uniformly. Attention to detail and a high caliber of organizational supervision are essential to any Adjutant. The discipline and knowledge to become an Adjutant starts at Officer Candidate School. 0102, Manpower Officer. The Marine who provides the Commanding Officer with "the right Marine, at the right time, in the right billet". Much like a talent hunter, personnel manager, and an administrative consultant all rolled into one, Manpower Officers manage and safeguard the Marine Corps' most valuable resource - the individual Marine. Controlling the overall staffing and putting a Marine in the billet they are most able to support the unit mission with, Manpower Officers need highly refined organizational and leadership skills. Often times the Manpower Officer acts as a coordinator or mediator between departments. When a Marine is not getting paid, they turn to the Manpower Officer for help. When a Marine is facing potential legal problems, the Manpower Officer coordinates with JAG lawyers and ensures the Marine's administrative necessities are handled. If assigned as the Command Legal Officer, they also may advise the Commanding Officer on legal proceedings, options, and procedures. Manpower Officers typically are tasked to be the Commanding Officer's Adjutant, which is the Commanding Officer's agent to execute the four primary functions of administration: general, personnel, operational, and manpower administrations. Becoming a Manpower Officer requires discipline, attention to detail, and strong interpersonal skills; all traits that are instilled into Marine Officers from day one at Officer Candidate School. If you have a passion for Human Relations, helping and supporting others in the work place, and a desire to positively impact the lives and careers of your colleagues, a career in the Marine Corps as a Manpower Officer may be right for you. To become a Combat Engineer Officer takes commitment, discipline, and toughness. Without the drive to study mountains of knowledge ranging from multiple construction methods, the intricacies of explosive physics and employment, or learning a new language to effectively engage with local leaders in disaster stricken countries, the Marine Corps would be unable to set up the infrastructure it needs to operate out of. The path to become one of these highly specialized and capable Combat Engineer Officers starts at Officer Candidate School. Discipline, leadership, teamwork, and commitment to their team and the mission are all instilled into each candidate from day one. If the Marines need to go somewhere, they call the Combat Engineers to build the bridge. Combat Engineer Officers are those leaders of Marines that routinely alternate between planning and building the assets the Marine Corps uses alongside their specialized Marines, plan for future construction and demolition operations, coordinate with fellow departments to build critical infrastructure, or take the fight to the enemy alongside their Infantry peers. No matter how big the job, Combat Engineer Officers lead the Marines who build the essential operation centers the Marine Corps needs to accomplish each mission.
