Anlässlich des 25-jährigen Bestehens feiert der Rotary Club Buchholz am ersten Juni-Wochenende sein 25-jähriges Bestehen. Hierfür haben sich die Club-Mitglieder eine Menge einfallen lassen. Die offizielle Charterfeier mit geladenen Gästen findet am Samstag, 1. Juni, auf Hof Kröger in Handeloh-Wörme statt. Direkt am nächsten Tag, am Sonntag, 2. Juni, fährt der Rotary Club Rad: Mit Unterstützung des ADFC, der Radsportabteilung von Blau-Weiss Buchholz, Buchholz fährt Rad, RSG Nordheide und vielen weiteren Unterstützern gibt es für jeden, der mitmachen möchte, die Gelegenheit, ab Mittag an einer Radtour in und um Buchholz teilzunehmen. Dazu wurden verschiedene Strecken mit unterschiedlicher Länge und Streckenführung ausgearbeitet. Egal, ob E-Bike, Renn-, Touren- oder Lastenfahrrad - für jeden ist etwas dabei. Alle Touren enden gegen 15 Uhr auf dem Parkplatz des Hotels Zur Eiche in Steinbeck, wo es neben ein paar Köstlichkeiten auch noch eine Tombola geben wird. Wer am 2. Our first service team of the year! This was a team of Rotarians from Canada and the U.S. The team focussed on two areas of service: medical, and community work in the Guadari neighborhood near the capital of Costa Rica, San Jose. The medical team visited houses to determine healthcare needs and hosted a community clinic on the last workday of the trip. The community service group spent their time in the renovation of a small neighborhood community center and hosted some activity times for local children - including a “HealthCare Fiesta”. This community is composed primarily of Nicaraguan and other immigrants into Costa Rica who live in an area with marginal housing and no access to health care. Additionally, one of the highlights of our trip was being invited to attend special dinners/get to know you evenings with two Rotary groups, one was Heredia Rotary the other was Alajuela Rotary. This team also combined service with tourism by spending an afternoon at a coffee plantation, a luncheon in the “Teatro Nacional” (national theater), and two/three craft shopping outings. The final outing was a day tour of rainforest and river and waterfall areas. As well as time on the Pacific beach near Jaco.
