My kids STILL love me. My kids STILL know I love them. And we ALL survive that first week and never think about it again. I have never had one kid come back and say “hey, I remember that you didn’t remember my name!” Nope, not one. I do LOVE these name tags this year for allergies! I have one color for my regular name tags and I picked these up to give to students that have an allergy. I think this will help me, my student teacher, and the cafeteria staff. 💡🕷️Light Table Inspo 🕷️💡 I had a similar design last year & so this year I thought and asked myself 3 things… 💭 ⚠️ How can I make this engaging? ⚠️ How can I make this purposeful? ⚠️ How can I make this interactive? 💡 I used colored masking tape for the web and sharpies for writing! I added relevant words, numerals and dots and a ten frame. As I look at this again, I wanted to add circles for sorting more or less; big and small! Linking my favorite tape for the light table in stories! & Yes, the sharpie comes off with sanitizer or dry erase marker over top! 👏🏽

🆘 How do you make those academic based centers more fun + child directed?? 1️⃣ Add the things you know they love (manipulatives & magnatiles) 2️⃣ Pick a skill focus (letters) = letter fire stations that they can drive their fire trucks in to. 🤩🤩 3️⃣ Yes, you do have to guide their learning - I said “look it’s L, lets make an L fire station for the yellow fire truck! Ohh and next well make an M fire station for the red fire truck” ☑️ Skills: letter ID, letter naming, matching, sorting, building/fine motor, engaging in conversations, taking turns… 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽

MYSTERY BAG ❔Another teacher told me about her mystery bag routine last year and I implemented it the second half of the school year. I’ve been DYING to do it and this year I upgraded to a box and the kids LOVED it! They were so engaged and couldn’t wait to see what was inside! I was honestly so impressed with the number of real questions I got (IYKYK) 🤪🤪 •How does it work? Pick an item that relates to your topic/theme/idea •Give a clue and have your students ask questions to figure out what’s inside •Encourage them to ask color, shape, size, beginning sound, category (of course with lots of coaching in the beginning) • Answer their questions and help/guide them to the correct answer My kids begged for mystery bag every day last year!
