THE ACCOUNTANT, starring Ben Afflack (2016) Now THIS was a solid flick. In the past, I’d written this movie off before watching because of the tacky name and because I didn’t think it would be entertaining enough, but boy am I glad that I gave it the chance. Ben Afflack stars as a lethally-trained, savant accountant who “suffers” from autism. I thought that the plot was really intriguing, with some serious twists and turns throughout that made the 2 hours fly by. Afflack doesn’t have a ton of emotion in any of the roles he plays, this being no exception, and I love it. He’s cold, direct, and a badass, sending a great message that with the right assistance, those who suffer from disabilities can be just as (if not MORE) capable. The setting was a bit boring (which was likely intentional, but still boring) and Anna Kendrick’s character was a bit meh (all I could think of was Pitch Perfect…maybe I’m the problem), but the movie tied together very well and it ended up being a feel-good, which surprised this movie reviewer. The characters were well developed and I thought that everything was complete by the end.
