Tea Time Tuesday! “Tea Party in a Box” …our final themed Takeaway tea box for 1, 2 or 3 is being offered on Sat May 11th, for Mother’s Day. We started these for Mother’s Day and think its only fitting to end on Mother’s Day. Our 1st Takeaway offering was for Mother’s Day 2020 - near the start of the pandemic we were all a little out of sorts on how to reach out to our loved ones, and so we had this idea to help make Mother’s Day special in a different way. We planned for it to be a 1 time offering, but due to demand, we started offering Scones ‘n Tea, and themed takeaway tea boxes for small groups each month. Anyone remember our ‘Round the World Series, where we featured foods from a variety of countries?! In May 2021 we filled a hall with orders! We have had fun choosing the treats to go inside the boxes, have raised funds for not for profits and hopefully brought lots of smiles. But the need for these is no longer the same and thus the current takeaway box (menu on our website) will be the last large offering. Special order takeaway boxes can be pre-ordered for dates we have tea parties booked for. Scones ‘n Tea that includes 12 scones with Devonshire Cream, jam and tea, can be ordered anytime. Storytime is Tea Time Celebrate Spring at Muir’s with our English Storybook High Tea, inspired by Beatrix Potter, The Secret Garden and The Wind in the Willows. These timeless classics capture the inspiring power of Spring’s life-force with beautifully told stories of loss, redemption, hope, healing, the Divineness of Nature and embracing life. We enthisiastically suggest a read (or re-read) of these beloved tales. Of course, all of these books included Tea Time, be it in a drawing room, animal burrow or out in Nature. Our Storybook menu ties to these stories, with favourites from the English Lake District- Beatrix Potter’s home, the Yorkshire Dales -The Secret Garden setting and the wild banks of the River Thames from The Wind in the Willows.

Tea Time Tuesday! What is a Takeaway Tea? We describe it as a « Teaparty in a box » . Initially created for Mothers Day 2020, near the beginning of the pandemic, we devised these to provide a way for people to celebrate in small groups. Or sometimes on their own. Each box contains all the food items we would offer at a fully catered tea party - 7 food items per person! Scones, sweets and tea sandwiches, house-made devonshire cream and jam, and a package of locally blended tea! But in small quantities, for 1, 2 or 3 people. Often ordered by people in from other provinces to send to loved ones in Calgary. We’ve had a lot of fun creating the menus, featuring a ‘round the world travel series when we were all grounded from travel, and other creative ideas to bolster peoples’ spirits. We have had to wind down with these as our regular business returned to normal but still offer them occasionally and by special order. A favorite repeat theme has been our « pink » tea which will delight récipients with a beautiful selection of treats, and proceeds benefitting a local breast cancer foundation.
