I thought of things I could be grateful for today? I always tell my team members, you get better at writing by writing.✍️ I learnt that principle at an early stage in life, and at any point where I find something I want to improve on, I push myself to do it repeatedly. That’s how I learnt quite a number of things that I know how to do without having to be within the four walls of a classroom. So, if there’s a skill or something that you think you are interested in or you’re just curious about, take it a step further. Find out about it , take time to learn it and do it. Repetition,they say is the mother of lasting impression. You learn how to write better by writing You learn how to pray better by praying You learn to read better by reading You learn to save better by saving Make conscious effort towards the choices you make, and put systems in place to hold yourself accountable. It’s easy for a poet to speak about poetry if they have repeatedly written a work of art. Every masterpiece started as a mash up words, lines, letters, blocks, notes etc woven together, realigned, replaced, rearranged and altered until it finally made sense to the creator and some extra elements/steps to make it make sense to you. One thing I’m currently doing, is trying out different things that interests me. A lot of us are familiar with the popular phrase “Jack of all trades, matter of none”. Well, I recently found out from watching a video on YouTube that the full phrase is “a jack of all trades is a master of none, but oftentimes better than a master of one.” That stood out for me because, to be honest no knowledge is lost. You may not use it right then and there or even many years from now or you may never even have the need for it. But, you would have successfully reduced the list of the many things you know nothing about. And that in itself, is a win for you. Elbert Hubbard said “The recipe for perpetual ignorance is: Be satisfied with your opinions and content with your knowledge.” Don’t stop seeking for knowledge. I have been fascinated about writing at a very tender age. As a child, I read a lot and everyone knew that about me. However, I’m not sure people were aware of how much writing I did, and still do. I’m not sure why I don’t speak so much about my writings, maybe imposter syndrome creeps in occasionally. But, I pour my emotions into my writings and sometimes, it’s a lot. (Excuses everywhere 😣) In my recent conversation with a friend, she mentioned how she read one of my piece, and she found it so relatable.
