(Rhetorical question there, what is the answer? 🤔) Me, I’m as curious, and as unashamed about it, as my pal, George 🐾 This is some of the genuine feedback I’ve received during my former 18-year career in media: ▪️”Innately curious” ▪️”Asks questions no one else does” ▪️”Thinks beyond the task then frames it in layman’s terms” ▪️”Asks questions that get straight to the nub of the issue” This is feedback I didn’t rate (!) or value for years🥹🤨 Didn’t see its value, I only saw others’ strengths and wanted theirs. My feedback I nudged on, rushed through, flippantly pushed on in a sense of yeah-yeah-get-to-the-useful-stuff. GAH! What a waste. Here’s some of what the children said: “When you’re 1 to 7, most kids worry about the dark. From 8 to 10 or 11, the past and future. From 7 to 18, maybe 25, worry is about school - getting good grades, worry about upcoming events.” Worry as a smell: moldy cheese, rotten banana peels, smoke Colour: red, yellow, purple Sound: deep growl, high pitch squeak Feeling: rough, eehhh, worry’s like your thoughts they don’t feel like anything Taste: lead, horseradish, smoke Hold a safe space, ask a meaningful question, and children will share their perspectives. 999 days alcohol free. I thought that sounded cooler than 1000 days, lol. ✌🏼 It’s the best self care I got. ⤵️ I sleep better - haven’t had a wide awake at 2am session in 999 nights. I eat better - no more justifying diving deep into a jar of peanut butter or a block of cheese. 🤦🏼♀️ I work out better - I give more, I push more. I recover quicker. My mindset is stronger - less limiting beliefs and 100% more self trust. My productivity is better - at work and at home. Less blah, more intention, and more energy. It doesn’t make me stronger or better than anyone else who chooses not to be alcohol free, it just makes me a better me. ⚓️
