❤️ For me, the album "Rise" is very important. It's 10 years old this year and I've already made many posts about it, because this album is really close to my heart 🫶🏻 I was 13 years old when the album came out, and at that time I was a very lonely and abused girl, I didn't have a good class community, so my anger and I was able to manage my grief with the help of Skillet's songs 💕 When I listen to the album again, it's the summer of 2013 again, when I screamed with joy that the album was released, when Rise, Not Gonna Die, Sick of It, my religion and American Noise played at maximum volume it made me feel emotions that I didn't even know existed. What are the craziest chances of this happening?! I totally lucked out and stayed at the same hotel as Skillet and their road crew! I ran into John Cooper (lead singer) as I was walking out to my car for something and we had a very nice and relaxed chat! John is such a super friendly and down-to-earth dude! He told me that he remembered seeing me rocking out in the front row at the show on Thursday night. He teased that I might appear in the near future on one of Skillet’s socials as he captured video of me with his phone at the show! He was surprised I flew in all the way from Minnesota just for the concert! After our conversation, I wished safe travels to him, his bandmates, and their road crew for the rest of their spring 2021 Drive-In tour! I finally met one of my favorite bands when I was growing up as a kid. Their music was huge part of my life and still is to this day, the first song I ever listened too of this band was “Whispers In The Dark” and I was instantly hooked. Last, but DEFINITELY not least. My 5th time meeting @skilletmusic... and I'll be honest, this was the BEST! For quite a few reasons.. first off, the professional picture looks AMAZING.. (Thanks @annettehollowayphotos).. second off, well.. shes part of the band so it counts, @jenledger was able to play her OWN music and new stuff as I started before.. and she was SO humble when I told her about how great her stuff was. All in all, it was a sick Skillet show. Even though I believe they were cut short this year compared to other years, (didn't play Those Nights, Out of Hell, or The Last Night..) it was still a sick show. I've had people ask me "Why do you love skillet so much? You're way too obsessed". Well, the answer is: at one point I was about to kill myself. I'd been prepping for a couple weeks. I'd gotten the razor and was ready to do it. But then I watched a video on YouTube, it was a full Skillet concert. Before the song 'Last Night' John made a speech about a girl who was ready to kill herself. It was about how if she would put her faith in Jesus it would be the last night that she would be alone. And as I was watching that video I decided to put my faith in Jesus. I have lived in a Christian home my entire life but I never accepted Jesus until that moment. And Skillet is helping me get through the hardest time I've ever had in my life. So if it wasn't for Skillet, I'd be burning in hell right now. That's why I love Skillet so much.
