ONGOING CONSTRUCTION Bidoeira House The front facade is blind, marked only by the composition of the car parking roof and a staircase that allows access to the visitable flat roof. The 1st and 2nd floors have fully glazed facades, both with continuity to a covered exterior floor. An uncovered central courtyard allows the interior spaces a private relationship with the outside, as well as the possibility of crossing views between the two floors. This is a house that cares about its surroundings, respecting it, and integrating it into its design, while at the same time privileging the inside-outside relationship, in a constant attempt to record the privilege of its location. ONGOING CONSTRUCTION Bidoeira House The building is materialized in white and with a horizontal language, where the planes of the railings extend beyond the interior body, to minimize the impact of the building’s height, giving it a lighter image. The cantilever elements are also representing the intention of distant views, to contemplate the surrounding landscape. The twisting game allows the building to embrace the area to the Southwest, to create a comfortable space, a sense of warmth and protection, and an interior-exterior dynamic. ONGOING CONSTRUCTION Bidoeira House The plot targeted for intervention has an irregular shape and a steep slope, made up of terraces, with rural characteristics. With narrow an access to the public road, the house is forced to be located in the heart of the plot and at a lower level than the road, making it imperceptible to anyone passing by. The architectural result is discreet and perfectly integrated into the surroundings, ensuring only one floor above the threshold level and a second floor below the threshold level, already at the second terrace, being adjusted to the scale of the neighboring building, mostly with 1 floor high. ONGOING CONSTRUCTION Mélias House The volume, that both opens and closes itself to the exterior, is made up of three materials: white plaster for the rear skin that hides and protects, kerlite korten for the lower skin that gives lightness to the whole and translucent glass that reveals the interior of the house without restrictions. This is a clearly urban house, which knows how to juxtapose the need to relate to its two road fronts, at the same time as it singles out the interior-exterior relationship of the lounge to the south, as the privileged moment of the house. With a restricted area and well-defined limits, imposed by the subdivision on which is inserted, Mélias is designed based on the idea of a solid and compact volume, with a simple geometric shape, which is then shaped at the North and South ends, to mark the moments of entry and the outdoor lounge, respectively. The volume results from dichotomies, revealing and hiding the interior of the building, through the box-structure of the facades, which rise and shape themselves depending on the need to expose the interior. ONGOING CONSTRUCTION Patio House, Aveiro. The image of the building is achieved by using an elegant composition between the monolithic form and the additional light forms. The uniformity is achieved by materiality, colour, and the rhythm of the vertical elements. Such result creates a cohesive and harmonious design that can be read as whole, between all different elements of the composition. The vertical elements are made from steel structure and composed by a regular repetition. These semi-opaque elements provide a physical and visual barrier and allows privacy. Guards, fences and pergolas. It is possible to integrate vegetation in the vertical elements, providing the benefits of nature into the formal composition of architecture. ONGOING CONSTRUCTION Fish House, Aveiro. The "Fish House" is a project that consists in the renovation of a single-family house located in the historical center of Aveiro. Its interior was completely remodeled, but the main intervention was made in the rear facade, where was drawn a light element - an aluminum structure composed of small scale shaped elements, resembling the image of a fish - over the big glass covering the entire facade, in reference to the owner's professional life. ONGOING PROJECT Quinta Avial, São Pedro do Sul. Inspired by the rural context, Quinta Avial is a tourism enterprise that reinterprets the built environment, incorporating the archaic forms with modern lines. The stone walls, the existing building, the ruins, as well as the terraces define the essence of the place and provide spatial richness. The project distinctiveness is settled by the combination of these elements, assuming a permanent and harmonious relation between the pre-existence and the new architecture, ensuring a method of proximity and seeking for a respectful result. The new proposal is based on the restoration of the pre-existing structures, enhancing and adapting them to new programmatic needs. The architectural composition is built upon three distinct moments. First and foremost, it is renovated the existing building to accommodate the rooms. Second, placed at the center of the composition and adjacent to the pre-existing building, there is a ruin which is considered the strategic point to design the reception area. It allows the articulation with the new extension to be built on the lower terrace. Last, but not least, the volume in the south side is designed to incorporate the common areas. It is “buried” in the terrace itself, as a reinterpretation and integration of the surrounding landscape, assuming a more discrete language, allowing the pre-existing building to show all its grandiosity. ONGOING PROJECT Mood Furniture, Ílhavo. MOOD Furniture headquarters is designed to be a high-performing workplace that provides an elevated experience to users and collaborators. Some premises – spatial continuity and visual permeability – are only possible to achieve through materiality and colour. The dialectic between dark colour (roof) and light colour (wall and floor) contributes to the idea of a horizontal perspective resulting in a more continuous space. The partitions between the offices and the warehouse are made by light and transparent elements, resulting in visual permeability.
