I finally sold my giant Bao/dumpling. 😱🥰 That was probably the best sales for me because it’s been a year of trying to sell it. After so many people being so shocked and happy to see it, but no one would buy it, I was discouraged. I guess patience and perseverance for the right person to come who will really like my stuff. Yesterday was crazy weather-wise. We had rain, sun, wind, and cold temperature. Luckily I brought a set of weights for my tent, but I think I need to buy another set because my tent was lifting for a moment. Thank you vending neighbor for holding it down for me. As we were packing up, someone’s tent got blown into another vendor’s tent. That was pretty scary. My phone signal was really bad yesterday, so I didn’t post anything. This was my booth. I eventually kept moving things towards the back of the the tent because of the rain. PSA - Get heavy weights for your tent, and probably also a good idea to get event insurance just in case. 😬 Thank you @thecreativespacesac for this event! I didn’t get to see the entertainment, but I heard the drumming and singing. Sounded like a lot of fun! Hi everyone, I'm kinda stunned at how quickly the papermaking + natural dye workshop filled up. This shows me how deeply Korean folks yearn for connection and culturally specific activities. I'm brainstorming how to continue this work in a way that is sustainable (for me) and accessible for folks, esp those for whom a free or heavily subsidized workshop offering is the only way they could participate. I am not currently set up as a non-profit but I see how this work is in many ways a service to the community. I know there are grants out there for this kind of thing, and I plan to apply so that I can offer more community events like these in the future. Asian Pacific CultureFest is back! We’ve been planning and working on this project for months and we’re excited to share some details with all of you! Expanding on the popularity of last year’s inaugural event, the 2023 celebration will feature more than 120 arts, crafts, food, and community vendors, a pop-up visual art gallery, more than a dozen food trucks, traditional and contemporary stage performances, and more. Asian Pacific CultureFest serves to celebrate and uplift the diversity of Asian American and Pacific Islander arts, culture, heritage, and contributions throughout the Sacramento region, and kicks off national observances of May as Asian American and Native Hawaiian/Pacific Islander Heritage Month.
