Oh-my-cuteness, the #YA novel #ASAP by @axieoh was just as adorable as I hoped it would be!  As with #XOXO, the first book in the series, it was easy to picture the cast of @xokittynetflix in my head as these #kpopidols continue to balance living in the spotlight while also trying to have a personal life as well.  I had planned to read this one in May for #AsianAmericanandPacificIslanderHeritageMonth but ended up gobbling it up on a flight back.  I’m definitely hoping the author continues the series because there are so many good characters and stories to explore!  And I would definitely not complain should someone want to adapt these stories for the screen  👀 👉🏼 @Netflix @amazonmgmstudios @amazonprime @hulu 🫶🏽 #24for24 #BIPOC #AAPI 💖 @shereadsromancebooksblog #microtrope #realityTVshow 📚 #PopsugarReadingChallenge2024 #bookaboutkpop

Join the City of Goleta in recognizing Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) Heritage Month this May! 🎉🌸 During this month, we take the time to express our gratitude for the invaluable contributions made by the AAPI community, which have greatly influenced Goleta and our country. AAPI Heritage Month originally began as a week-long observance in May. It honored the arrival of the first known Japanese immigrants to the U.S. on May 7, 1843, and also commemorates the completion of the transcontinental railroad on May 10, 1869. 🚂 In 1990, the commemorative week was officially extended to a month-long celebration following the passage of a bill by Congress and its signing into law by President George H.W. Bush. 🗽🌺 We extend our heartfelt appreciation to our Asian American and Pacific Islander community who contributes to the diverse beauty of our community🤝❤️ #CityofGoleta #AAPI #AAPIHeritageMonth

Four ways you can break the stigma surrounding mental health in the Asian American/Pacific Islander (AAPI) community: 🧠 Promote culturally competent mental health services: This includes providing language-appropriate services, understanding cultural nuances, and employing mental health professionals who are familiar with the cultural backgrounds and experiences of AAPI communities. 📚 Join or create education and awareness campaigns: These campaigns can address common misconceptions, provide information about available resources, and encourage open discussions about mental health and seeking help. ❤️ Foster community support and peer networks: Establish, join, or spread the word about local peer support networks or community groups where AAPI individuals can share their experiences, provide mutual support, and access culturally relevant resources. ⭐️ Support representation and visibility: This includes showcasing diverse narratives and experiences in media, literature, and public discourse to help normalize conversations about mental health within the AAPI community. By seeing others who look like them openly discussing mental health, individuals may feel more empowered to seek help and support. This AAPI Heritage Month, let's amplify the voices of Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders and advocate for mental health awareness and acceptance within their communities. Together, we can break barriers, foster understanding, and promote mental wellness for all. 🙌 #aapi #aapimonth #asianamerican #pacificislander #aapiheritagemonth

Happy Asian American and Pacific Islander Month! AAPI Heritage Month is celebrated in the U.S in May to recognize the contributions of Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders to our country's history, culture, and society. This month (and every month!), we recognize, celebrate, and uplift our AAPI communities here in Waco! AAPI Heritage Month was established in 1978 by Congress to honor the first Japanese immigrants who arrived in the U.S. on May 7, 1843. The celebration was later expanded to a month-long observance in 1990 by President George H. W. Bush to include the diverse cultures of all Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders. #wacotexas #wacotx #AAPI #AAPIHeritageMonth

May is always a big month for me. It's not only AAPI (Asian American and Pacific Islander) Heritage Month. Surprise! I'm a secret Asian. Not so secret, I let people know they just don't want to believe me until I show them photos of my family. Biracial people exist, silly. It's also pre-eclampsia and HELLP Syndrome Awareness Month. I don't have cancer, but this is sorta like cancer as I'll have to live with it the rest of my life. I got it during pregnancy. It forced my daughter to be born three months early. She had a couple of months NICU stay, I fought with the trying to stay alive before and after the removed her by emergency cesarean. Luckily for us, she only needed a blood transfusion, and I got off with liver and thyroid damage. The alternative was death for both of us. Even though my case is rare, it's nice to have this information out there for women who are interested in having kids. She's my miracle baby and the only one I'll be able to have. Doctors have told me any more is unsafe for me because of the HELLP Syndrome. #hellpsyndromesurvivor #nicugraduate #pandemicbaby #severepreecclampsia #alive #valkyriearts #aapi #hipdysplasia #paosurgery #emergencycesarean #gonethroughtheringer #momsofinstagram

Happy AAPI-Asian American Pacific Islander Month . AAPI Month serves as a reminder of the challenges faced by the AAPI community, from past discrimination and xenophobia to ongoing incidents of hate. . 🇰🇭 My name is Chantha Thach, born in Oregon, grew up in ohio but basically a New Yorker now lol with Ancestors from cambodia. . 🇰🇭I am first generation to Cambodian parents who escaped to the United States from The CAMBODIAN GENOCIDE- which was a systematic persecution and killing of Cambodian citizens! by the Khmer Rouge under the leadership of Prime Minister of Democratic Kampuchea, Pol Pot. It resulted in the deaths of 1.5 to 2 million people from 1975 to 1979, nearly 25% of Cambodia’s population in 1975. . 🇰🇭I grew up Buddhist - but also my father was once a monk and captured and was out in jail for 5yrs. Even thought I don’t go to temple often only when I’m home I consider myself a spiritual person. . 🇰🇭My mother lost her first family -her husband and 2 kids at the time of genocide before she met my dad, and has endured a lot of trauma which I will be forever grateful for her inner strength. I believe that’s in my bloodline. . 🇰🇭 I speak the Cambodian language “Khmer”but can’t speak to write it 🤫🙃🫣 . 🇰🇭I’ve been to cambodia 3x in my life at ages 17yrs, 29yrs, and 38yrs. . 🇰🇭Ankor Wat is a beautiful temple from the 10th-13tj century-which is also one of the 7 world wonders. (A must see and experience of a life time) . 🇰🇭My favorite Khmer dish is Tuk Prakok which is a stinking delicious sauce made of mud fish, it’s especially delicious with steak. . 🇰🇭 I have 2 younger siblings one brother one sister. . 🇰🇭My goal in life is to do great things in the fitness and wellness space, and show the future Asian girls anything is possible with hard work, grit, and a big ass heart! . I would love to hear fun facts about who you are and where you are from ? And you don’t have to be Asian for this ☺️🙃 . #cambodia🇰🇭 #khmergirl #cambodianfood #cambodianculture #aapi #mindset #strongwomen #asianwomen #pride #proudkhmerwoman #entrepreneur #fearless #innerstrength #learning

Day 2 of AANHPI Heritage Month 🌺🤙🏻 these pictures are from the Asian Festival we had in November. This was the first Asian festival that collaborated with the Polynesian community. This was also the first festival/cultural event i actually volunteered for. I wasn’t just a festival goer or a performer. I was supposed to volunteer at the Tea Garden, but Unko Ohau needed help at the Hawaii booth (in more ways than one 🤦🏻‍♀️). After i danced hula to He Mele No Lilo for auntie Ka’imi and walked the parade, i went to help with the Hawaii booth for the rest of the day. I got to be around both my Asian and Polynesian cultures that day. There’s also one picture from one of the 808 Social events. I believe it was Poke Fest. Come join us for another 808 Social event this weekend! May Day Lei Day will be at Osuna Park on Saturday May 4th from 2-8pm 🌺🤙🏻 #aapiheritagemonth #aapi #proudasian #proudpolynesian #proudAAPI

Our short film, INFINITY!, is an official selection in the @wyomingfilmfest! This is meaningful as Wyoming is home to the Heart Mountain War Relocation Center, where 14K Japanese Americans were held in concentration camps during WWII. Our film highlights this history, but also brings humanity back to the people whose lives were unjustly uprooted. We are honored, and we can't wait to bring our little musical romance to the big screen in Big Sky Country. See y'all this summer! 🤠 . . . . . #OfficialSelection #Wyoming #FilmFestival #FilmFestivalSeason #Filmmaker #Filmmaking #AsianAmerican #AAPI #History #Musical #Director #WritersOfInstagram #APAHM

May is #aapiheritagemonth 🌺 Here are two of our newest authors who are very proud of their #aapi roots! Asian American, Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander Heritage Month is observed in the United States during the month of May, and recognizes the contributions and influence of Asian Americans, Native Hawaiians and Pacific Islander Americans to the history, culture, and achievements of the United States. Not only are these two authors brought together by their passion for writing amazing books we are proud to publish, but they became friends through their shared backgrounds. You can find both of their books on our website! (Photos taken in partnership with @belcantobooks and @kubo.lb, which are both AAPI founded as well!)

Kiyoshi Tanimoto (1909-1986) Was a Japanese Methodist minister and peace activist, renowned for his humanitarian work after the Hiroshima bombing in World War II. Having survived the atomic bomb in 1945, Tanimoto immediately assisted the injured and homeless. He later traveled to the United States to raise awareness about the effects of nuclear weapons, promoting peace and reconciliation. His life is a powerful testament to resilience and forgiveness, serving as an inspiring figure during AAPI Heritage Month. #aapi #aapiheritagemonth #stopaapihate
