Full Refin and closet classic relic on this 2000’s Les Paul Special. Came in in the usual faded cherry red from the factory and we decided to paint it Ice Blue Metallic, which was 100% the right choice ! This is vintage correct no plasticizer nitro that will continue to age with playing over the years. Kept the relic super light, mostly just checking with some very small dings here and there. Also got @seymourduncanpickups antiquities, and mojoaxe pickguard and bridge. Cleaned up the wiring and buffed out the frets and we were good to go. Thanks Justin! Appreciate your cool projects! . Custom shop les Paul came in for a relic and this is where we landed. I included some pretty close detail shots to get a good idea of what this thing actually looks and feels like. A stock MIM tele got the relic treatment and a fret level. Firebird relic pics. It’s stung up now and ready to go home, but I might try and snap some more photos of it before it goes. @chicagofretworks posted some photos of it earlier today as well. This is a 2012(?) Gibson firebird. I relic’d the original finish, hardware and changed out a few parts including a set of lollar firebird pickups, leveled the frets and gave it a setup. Fender Custom Shop closet classic telecaster that came in for the Robben Ford relic treatment. Relics are always so enjoyable to do. I start on them and next thing I know 4-5 hours has gone by without me even realizing it. This one was especially interesting because I had multiple reference photos for the top of the guitar, but could not find a photo of the back, so that was all just freestyled doing my best to imagine what the back of the guitar looks like based on the top. Late 80’s/early 90’s Gibson Goldtop in for a stainless steel refret with stewmac 152’s, bone nut, tossed 4 new pots in there and wound a new bridge pickup for it. A hot unpotted A2 screamer🥵to replace the Pearly Gates that had died. This guitar absolutely rips and has some of the best/coolest natural wear and tear I’ve ever seen. Just wrapped up this Lennon Jr inspired kit buildout. This was a gift from @galgunband and myself to our good bud @kevkralj . Kevin just recorded and produced the newest gal gun record as well as producing my own music and even drumming with me for a couple years. He’s one of the nicest most genuine people I know, and this was our way of saying thank you. This started as a single cut jr neck and body I got from Precision. Made and routed the neck template/route, selector switch route, and made the plastic except for the pickguard which came from Mojoaxe. Glued in the neck and the ebony headstock veneer and made and inlaid the inlays. Lastly I stained it and did an oil finish which turned out really nice. Loaded with tone pros nylon saddle abr-1 and tonepros locking tailpiece, @lollarpickups Charlie Christian neck pickup and their dog ear p90, and Grover milk bottle rotomatics. Just wrapped up the refret on this 1954 Gretsch 6193 Country Club. Did some research and found that this is a rather rare bird. First and only year they did the Synchromatic headstock with the block inlays on this guitar. On top of refretting it, I cleaned up some of the electronics as well as repairing the lead on the neck pickup. This guitar came in with no bridge, and the frets already pulled out of it, which is a troubling sign, but this guy is now playing and sounding great. Headstock reglue, touchup and a fret level for this absolutely killer 70’s Melody Maker owned by my bud @ryrydiedie of @criminalkids No reinforcements for this one as it was this guitars first headstock break and I had plenty of gluing surface. The guitar has a fair share of funk to it so I matched the new lacquer to the rest of the guitar. Fresh stainless steel frets I just put in this Carvin with an ebony fingerboard. Ebony is very prone to chipping so it takes some time and patience to make sure that fingerboard is buttoned up and looking good for when those new frets are pushed in. Also stainless is a harder material, but my refret process is no different than say with nickel, the steps just take a little bit longer. This is a @wildwoodguitars Limited Edition Fender 72’ thin skin telecaster deluxe that a customer sent to us that he wanted relic’d. I sprayed some amber lacquer on it, did the relic and here we are. Guitar was dropped and the neck cracked loose, as well as a pretty minor headstock break, so reglued the neck and glued the headstock, refretted as well as new bone nut. Okay folks, how sick is this guitar? 60’s Silvertone 1478 that at some point in time was covered in brush on gold paint and covered in stickers. This looked pretty sweet so I didn’t want to mess with it. I sanded back a good amount of the gold paint from the front and back and buffed it to a matte finish. And then I refretted it, and was able to save the original nut. All the electronics work, but a tab broke off one of the pots so it’ll get replaced. Even without the knobs, this thing was too cool not to share.
