Hello Furiends of Timmy! Today, exactly 133 months ago, was the first time I ever saw Timmy in real life. I had already looked at a photo online, but this was the first face-to-face encounter with him. I must admit, I was somewhat shocked at how large he was. But at the same time, I was taken by his calm, thoughtful manner and by his remarkable eyes and velvet paws. He was cautious, but he stared at me quite seriously with those large, soulful eyes. We asked him what he thought about the idea of moving to the Big City. He never let on if he understood the question or if he did what his thoughts were on the matter. After saying goodbye at the close of the visit, I knew I wanted to adopt him. Two weeks later, he came, and the rest became history. It would be five years before he made his first Instagram appearance as a senior cat that proved to be young at heart. Thank you, everyone, for making him feel so welcome here. ❤️ And it all began with this most unforgettable encounter. These memories make me smile. Forever in my heart. Hello Furiends of Timmy! I was reminded by @nobodywantschewbacca that today is Timmy's Adoptaversary! Eleven years ago, he moved in. We were thrilled, but he was not. In fact, he was heartbroken. He was my fourth cat, but my first rescue. All his Predecessors were strays or had moved in voluntarily, and they were happy from the get-go. Timmy came because he could no longer stay in his previous home, and I was surprised at how deeply sorrowful he was. He had changed homes a few times beforehand throughout his first six years, and it was obviously hard for him on each occasion. It took a few days for him to finally begin eating again and settling in. And then he was all in. You could see the change in his demeanor when he dared to love again, and the rest became history. So, it seemed appropriate to repost some highlights of Timmy's first year. Thanks for all the memories, sweet boy. Forever in my heart. 🧡 What about adopting again? Having hosted Henry for a month, I discovered that I feel ready to give a new cat a home. However, the timing is not ideal at present. The adoption will need to be delayed by a few months. It is a long story that has not been completely sorted out yet, but suffice it to say, I will keep you posted! I am definitely looking forward to the new year ahead! And for the record, even though I will never forget Timmy, a one-in-a-million cat, one day, he will be promoted to the rank of official Predecessor. Looking forward to that milestone, too. Hello Furiends, Yesterday was American Thanksgiving, and if you celebrated, I hope you had a good one. Am thankful for every one of you. ❤️ Today, I would like to introduce to you Henry, who is part of Rugby's extended family. You may remember Rugby from the previous post. Henry has no genetic relationship to Rugby, but family is family, and he is much-loved. Henry was a bit shy when we first met, but he is a handsome, funny and clever boy. Much too smart for his own good. Henry's person quickly learned that some Cats can turn on stoves. Henry is one of those Cats, and so the stove must always be left locked. 🙀 A number of cupboard handles have also been removed to prevent Henry from getting into things that could be potentially harmful. In any case, it was lovely to meet Henry. 🖤 [Swipe ➡️➡️] His person is going away for a couple of weeks over Christmas. As everyone knows, Cats do best when they have a human to manage. So, it is a great honour to have the privilege of being managed by Henry over the holidays! He will be staying here, and I can hardly wait. Will keep you posted. Hello Furiends of Timmy! This is a moment from about 10 years ago. Timmy had been the Cat in Charge for about 8 months. He had arrived in the heart of winter and it was not long before he fell in love with his Fireplace. He loved to 'chill' in its warmth. But then spring arrived, and along with it, warmer temperatures. The Fireplace was suddenly broken. Summer came and went, and still the Fireplace remained dark and silent, no matter how long and hard he stared at it, willing it to spring into action. But, despite Timmy's best intentions, he was unable to persuade the Fireplace to cooperate. And then on a cool autumn day, wonder of wonders, the Fireplace sprang to life. Timmy taught me some unforgettable life lessons during his tenure. 1. Sometimes the changes are quicker than the plans. 2. A change in Purrspective can be as good as getting what you thought you wanted. 3. Chase your dream until it finds you. 4. Today is a gift. This moment, here and meow, is a priceless treasure. 5. There is no such thing as too many photos. Longtime followers know that by the time Timmy moved in, he filled a noticeable cat-sized gap. The plans had been to adopt a grey tabby girl cat who was about four years younger. And I certainly never wanted a ginger cat! But the day we heard about Timmy, that all changed, and the rest became history. I was more thrilled than he was at his arrival. He was deeply sorrowful that he had to leave yet another caregiver behind. He had already gone through such a heartbreak a few times in his life. He was my first rescue cat. His Predecessors were all strays or moved in voluntarily. It was tough to see how unhappy he was. But a few days after his arrival, he dared to open up his heart again. He was so courageous. We did everything we could to never betray his trust. In turn, he showed us in countless ways that we may have rescued him, but he definitely adopted us. Unforgettable Timmy. His age, his colouring, and the fact that he was a boy, none of these were on the radar. But you, sweet Timmy, could not help how old you were, and ended up being the best little dude. I will always be grateful that you taught me that sometimes the changes are quicker than the plans, and it is usually better to think outside the box. You were full of beans and had the most expressive eyes. You always welcomed conversations and I probably spoke more with you than any of your Predecessors. And you were a cuddle bug, with lots of love to give. That love included Butter, of course. 🧈💛 This marks 300 days without you and your purrs, Buddy. Can hardly believe it has been this long. You will always have a special place in my heart. Yet I have to smile when I think of you, and feel ready to welcome another little tiger. But life is funny sometimes and the timing at present is not ideal. Things have taken an even crazier, busier turn than ever. A new adoption needs to wait, as it would not be fair to the next Cat.
