Hello Furiends of Henry! Henry has returned home. During his last couple of hours here, he still squeezed in all the managing he possibly could. He leapt onto the fireplace mantle one more time and gave everything a final once-over. After Henry left [Swipe ➡️], I returned the clock to its regular spot, and I had to agree with him. [Swipe ➡️] A cat on top of the mantle is much more interesting than a clock, which just sits there, covering its pretty face with its hands. A clock may tell the time, but a cat reminds you to enjoy this moment, here and meow. That is easily as valuable. This was brought home to me earlier when I read about the sudden farewell of sweet Lizzy @whisky_the_tomcat. What a shock. And how sad! My heart goes out to Whisky and his meowmy as they grieve this unexpected loss. 😿💔❤️ So, I am thankful for the time with Henry. It was a gift. And now [Swipe ➡️], he is back home where he belongs, enjoying cuddles and inspecting his own neighbourhood. He and his person had quite a sweet reunion when he was picked up. Hello Furiends! Happy #whiskerswednesday to you. My whiskers are so fine that the camera sometimes loses them as it focuses on capturing my sleek black fur while still capturing my features. However, my whiskers and features are all there. If you Swipe ➡️, you can see me looking towards the window, and if you look closely, you will probably notice how the light reflects off my whiskers. I definitely have them! I have been told that I am quite handsome. But to be honest, I don't worry much about cameras and posing for photos. I just am who I am, and what you see is what you get. Things continue to go well here. My first night here, I kept me and my thoughts to myself. But last night, I decided to sleep on the covers on top of my SP (= Spare Person). First, I made biscuits, and after a bit, I finally settled down, not unlike a weighted blanket. This allowed me to be there bright and early this morning to ensure that oversleeping did not happen, that my breakfast was on time, and that the beautiful new day was not squandered. To assist with waking up, I tried to be as persuasive as possible, cheerfully giving head bumps. When that was not effective, I proceeded to knock items off the night table one by one. First the tissue box, then the water bottle, and so on. I left the lamp and the alarm clock intact because, at last, my SP got up. Finally! That was quite a job! Breakfast was served, and all was well. After breakfast, I stealthily climbed onto the windowsill and resumed birdwatching. There is a nest in a nearby tree outside, and some noisy crows have been hanging around. Something made me jump from one edge of the sill to the other, but I managed to keep it a low jump, and happily, there was no crash involved at the end. Unhappily, I did not catch any bird, either. Hello Furiends! I hope you are keeping well. Yesterday afternoon, after I had duly inspected everything, I was pleasantly surprised at how quickly my SP (= spare person) was becoming adjusted to my being here again. It was as if I had never left. All my training last time had not been in vain after all. Good to know. To inspire my SP to keep on track, I frequently rub against her legs or the hand that is petting me. And then I am told that I am a good boy. Who doesn't like to hear that! It's a win-win. I have been eating and using my litter box like always. When I am called, I happily come for skritches or treats. It is almost as if I enjoy both equally. No treats without skritches. But I even enjoy skritches without treats. And I follow my SP around the house to ensure that all is well. And it is. On my first visit a few months ago, I never let on that I had noticed the mantle at all, and I left it to its own devices for about a week before I ventured onto it. At the time, the mantle was somewhat cluttered with a clock, a lantern, and more. But when I arrived yesterday, it was happily cleared just the way I liked it, so I was free to renew my acquaintance with the mantle almost right away. There is something quite wonderful about standing in high places. I have also [Swipe ➡️] been birdwatching those pesky crows yesterday and today. However, when it comes to the window sill, I proceed with due care. As you may recall, I had a run-in with the ceiling or crow or something like that while birdwatching the last time I was here. So, I respect the potential hazards of that job. I keep a low profile while I supervise the outdoors. It is the only time I seem to be expressing any caution. But supervise, I do. Hello Furiends! It's me, Henry! I am back again offering my managing services to my spare person while my official person is off gallivanting, without asking my permission. Actually, my person is volunteering at a camp this week for kids who are fighting cancer. That is a noble cause, so I suppose this absence is not just tolerable, but acceptable. What do you think? It is raining terribly hard at the moment, 🌧☔️ so I hope the weather improves soon for the kids. Incidentally, my person is celebrating a birthday today, so I am wearing a bandana in honour of this special occasion. Even though my person has left, I will continue to wear the bandana the whole day. Pawty while you can! It has been almost three hours since my arrival, and I have been busy since then. So far, I have been exploring every nook and cranny, ensuring that all is as it should be. I have looked out the window, heard a crow cawing (such a noisy business!), listened for some unusual sounds coming from the fireplace, and more. I was told the sounds were the heavy raindrops falling and hitting the chimney outside, but I am not convinced. My spare person called my name, and I momentarily turned away from the fireplace, but you can see how intently I am still listening to those odd sounds. I am still trying to figure out what that is all about. I have inspected the saddle, and it smells a bit different from the last time I climbed it. Has there pawsibly been another Cat here without my Purrmission? A Cat named Hazel? However, my spare person rarely saw Hazel on it, and I actually get along with other Cats.
