Alright, this episode of "Spectacles" has been in my plans for quite a long time, and putting it together wasn't an easy task either. It requires a bit of context, so bear with me. Can't remember how exactly, but around this time back in 2010 I discovered a blog that became some sort of portal into a whole incredible new world of music, cinema, art, and plenty of other obscure things that have been inspiring me ever since. The blog was called "Toys and Techniques", and it lead me (and probably many others back then) to a whole peculiar network of other pages dedicated to similar subjects. Some of the tunes and artists included in this episode have now gained international cult status, but a decade ago, for many people like me, Ben's blog (alongside a bunch of others) was really the first introduction to these sounds (and images, films, books, concepts). Even today, 7 years since the blog's last post, I keep discovering and rediscovering something new from its archive every now and then.
