- Welcome all to another edition of #tapethemethursday humbly hosted by yours truly. This week, for your consideration, I bring you Found Sounds Vol. 1 So, a few years back, I took a chance and enrolled in the Found Sounds membership club via @groovefamilyrecords and was promptly rewarded with my first, and as it turns out, only, swag bag aptly labeled Volume 1. As with, I can only guess, all subsequent releases, Vol. 1 consists of obscure to little known artists spanning a wide array of music from all types of genres. Whether it's the blue eyed soul of David Soul with the groovy "Landlord" or frequent George Harrison collaborator Jackie Lomax singing "Hellfire, Night Crier", Vol. 1 is quite literally a treasure trove of the little heard. A music lovers mixtape in the truest sense of the word. It remains to be seen whether the Found Sounds music club is still up and running, as not only was this the only release that I received, but their Instagram page seems to have gone radio silent towards the end of 2021. Regardless, I'm happy to have this small piece of their aural history. So there it is folks, your #tapethemethursday entry for the week! I have 16note pattern in the Beatstep Pro which sends gate to the WMD Javelin (get one whilst you can) awesome module for a small case… Pitch is being into the Loquelic Iteritas. I’m doing nothing fancy with it just a gate signal being sent into the morph. The output is sent to the Wasp filter. I love this sound of this filter… so cheap, buy one maybe two!! The Lowpass output is then routed to the on on the Javelin. Also on the javelin i have from the the Velo output on the Beatstep into the accent. The output is routed to L’ECORCHEUR!! An absolute grant filter distortion Module. Audio is then routed to the Desmodus Versio before exiting out of space into the the Boum. This was a fun patch just made on the fly. It goes from a modular beep boop pattern into something more lofi with percussive rhythms and bass a long with ethereal highs all from the same monophonic pattern. I’ll post a few clips it was fun. Alright, this episode of "Spectacles" has been in my plans for quite a long time, and putting it together wasn't an easy task either. It requires a bit of context, so bear with me. If you prefer, follow the link in my linktree or stories first - and then come back to read here. Can't remember how exactly, but around this time back in 2010 I discovered a blog that became some sort of portal into a whole incredible new world of music, cinema, art, and plenty of other obscure things that have been inspiring me ever since. The blog was called "Toys and Techniques", and it lead me (and probably many others back then) to a whole peculiar network of other pages dedicated to similar subjects. Some of the tunes and artists included in this episode have now gained international cult status, but a decade ago, for many people like me, Ben's blog (alongside a bunch of others) was really the first introduction to these sounds (and images, films, books, concepts).
