Some big steps in the right direction on the #savagecamino Finally took the plunge away from the old vic Jr intake and carby setup and flipped a truck intake around backward like i have thought about doing ever since I built this thing. This required relocating the alternator which will take another day or two to get those brackets made but it saved me a grand in the efi throttle body and is also pre-paving the install of the intake i can’t talk about lol. Got the new steering box all mounted which was the first step in the new steering setup. Now I’m building custom swingers specific to the space and desired steering ratio. I reduced it quite a bit so now it will be about 1 turn to lock in either direction so 2 turns total rather then the 3-3/4 turns the box cycles. This will both quicken the steering about 1.9:1 - as well as keep the steering box operating in the optimal range, and works perfectly with the stock chevy box in the new location with a stock-mod pitman clevis. As the pitman swings it changes motion ratio increasingly thru the arc, similarly if the centerlink pivots are off line from the steering link pivots that will throw off the motion ratio. by causing the centerlink to leave the ideal horizontal position. If this happens the relative toe changes thru the steering cycle. Lots of fun stuff to consider, I really enjoy working thru new designs. This is my first set of steering swingers and is another upgrade i have thought about for years. I designed it around the smallest standard trailer bearings for affordability/ease of prep and may offer this kit as a weld yourself deal if there is enough interest.
