Another little kit completed! To be honest this kit was just an indulgence 🙈 I don't have space on the layout for it, but maybe in the future? Anyway, as I have quite a few intermodal wagons I thought why not! It is from DAPR3D, I had to file a few rough edges, but overall an amazing thing! DIY wagon loads 😀 I'm happy with how it turned out! The most difficult was sourcing cork chippings in the right size. Yes, I know, I could use real coal. But with my limited storage space I didn't want to buy a whole bag of coal. Also I'm not a fan of messiness which undoubtedly would unfold in the process 😅 Additionally I can use those cork chippings for other stuff as well! I used chippings 1-2mm in size (remembering that industrial coal is in much bigger chunks than the BBQ one). As a base I used some foam I had laying around after previous projects. Diagonal cut at the end allows me to press it to raise it for simple removing from wagons. Some small pieces of foam glued on top to add some volume without using too much cork. Base layer of glue, then sprinkling with cork and then additional soaking with diluted glue in the same manner as ballast to fix it in place. Progress on the #tt120 layout has been slow in recent months but it's ramping up now. Resoldered the mainline curves at one end with set curves instead of flexitrack, and tested the clearances with the new #hornby Mk3s. I've also now settled on the crossovers for the downline end of the station, opting for a mixture of diamond and double-slip to serve the branch line whilst letting the mainline use it as well. Small update. On pictures you can see some of recent weathering of tracks and retaining walls. Also you can see signal box in its final position, blended into surface. I'm relatively happy with how it looks, although I overdid weathering in some places. I still haven't fixed all the issues. Frankly I can't focus on those fixes. My mind is racing, with hundreds of thoughts, usually working on the layout is therapeutic, but not now. But don't worry, it'll pass. It always passes. It is just that I don't want to move further along with weathering and adding details as long as there are some issues with motors or wiring. I'm quite clumsy (what is comic when you are 6'3") so better to minimise chances of destroying some fragile parts. And with current state of my mind digging for solutions for those more technical aspects of building the layout is almost impossible 🤷 But changing to something more optimistic, I received new laser cut wagon kits! As this requires only following the instructions, it will be therapeutic. A little bit of work done on the old factory buildings so they don't seem so much the poor relations to the new Metcalfe kits. It was a free download print at home paper kit, so the detail was only ever going to be as clear as my fairly basic printer could manage, but the addition of some corner stones, roof ridge tiles and a bit of weathering to grubby it up helps make it look like it's been belching out smoke over the Hollybush skyline for years. #modelrail #modelrailway #scalemodel #tt #tt120

Just took delivery of these fine models from Oxford Diecast. Why oh why the packaging though @oxforddiecast? Is it even recyclable? Could it be optional? Das neue Modul für den Abzweig der Nebenstrecke ist testweise aufgestellt und vorerst nur mechanisch mit dem bisherigen Aufbau verbunden. So langsam füllt sich der kleine Hobbyraum. Advice needed! Recently I discovered that I forgot about this signal! It is a fully working N scale 3 aspect light signal which I bought a long time ago (it was on sale so I decided to try if it fits with TT). It looks quite alright. But I'm not sure about its placement. Or even the plausibility of it. Should I stay only with ground signals? In my theory this signal protects the entry to yard and through track towards (beyond the layout) additional sidings. Additionally I don't want to place fragile details close to the edge hence it is not placed the other way around. Of course rule 1 applies but I'd like it to look at least plausible 😅 So, what do you think?
