Read here how I muse about this anthurium hybrid: 👇🌱 This anthurium forgetii hybrid has been through it all lately. It got root rot so I had to chop most of the roots off and repot it while pushing out a new leaf simultaneously 😅 But it’s a tough one, it didn’t even skip a beat. It’s currently sucking the energy out from its oldest two leaves because it’s getting ready to give me a new big one ✌️🌱 What’s so interesting about this particular hybrid is that one of the parents is a dark forgetii. Although more often used for its velvet leaves it actually produces neat little flowers 🌺 The Ruellia makoyana is a species of flowering plant in the Acanthaceae family. Common names are: Trailing Velvet Plant, Planta Veludo, Planta del Mono, 银脉芦莉草, ต้นกำมะหยี่ต่อท้าย. The R.makoyana is an evergreen herbaceous perennial that can grow up to 60cm tall and has velvety, dark green lanceolate shaped leaves with silvery white veins and the undersides of the leaves are purple. It produces 5 petaled bright pink tubular shaped flowers that bloom from November till April. After it finished flowering it is followed up by a elongated dehiscent capsule. This species of Ruellia is hardy to zone 10. It is native to Southeast Brazil ( to the states of Minas Gerais, Espírito Santo, Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo ) where it can be found growing in undergrowth of humid forests.
