«Light and Death» Site-specific installation, Risi, Stäfa (CH) 22.3.2023 (stitching 21.12. 2022-21.3. 2023) I created the artwork "Light and Death" as a tribute to the transformative potential of loss and the power of the divine feminine principle. Over the past three years, I have faced immense personal challenges, including the loss of two cousins to suicide during the pandemic and the horrors of war in the neighboring country of Ukraine, from where a part of my heritage originates. As I grappled with the meaning of my own life, I found solace in the act of stitching. Through the delicate and intricate embroidery of Slovak text, I honored the memory of my grandmothers and female relatives who had endured the trauma of the World War II. and passed on their pain to future generations. It is a tribute to my ancestors' resilience in the face of unimaginable hardship. Through this piece, I transformed their destiny, leaving them with the message: “You are a light in the darkness. Eternity of being. Wounds will heal. Rest in peace.” Through this artwork, I sought to bring attention to the power of traditional textile techniques and the ways in which they can be used to express deeply personal experiences. As I worked, I found myself immersed in a transformative moment of healing and hope. By installing the piece in a local forest, I emphasized the connection between the female principle and the natural world, where even death is seen as an integral part of the cycle of life. #transformation #natureheals #lubomiralavrikova @lubomira_lav
