Meet the cast of EMILIA: Destiny DeJesus, Sarah Palmero, & Brooklynn Solomon! Destiny DeJesus (she/her) - EMILIA1 Destiny DeJesus is so excited to be participating in this production at Sacramento City College. She’s been doing theater for the past five years and is very grateful for all the productions that have led her up to this point. This is her second production at Sacramento City College, but recently she was in a production of SWEAT at Sacramento City College. She would like to thank Lori Ann DeLappe-Grondin for giving her the opportunity to participate in this production. Sarah Palmero – EMILIA3 Sarah Palmero is a lifelong actor, currently based in Sacramento. She's performed in several different theaters around the city and is a face you may recognize. She was most recently Odysseus in WTCs PENELOPIAD and an ensemble member in THE FALL for Big Idea Theatre's recent One-Act festival. When she's not on stage, she's working behind the microphone as a voice actor. She is beyond excited to be in this production of this very important play. Brooklynn T. Solomon (she/her) - EMILIA2 Brooklynn is a graduate of Sacramento State with her BA in Theatre. She was most recently seen in Celebration Arts’ season opener, FOR COLORED GIRLS (Lady in Red). Gabrianna Solis – LORD COLLINS, LADY ANNE Gabrianna Solis is a junior high school student who has been working with the Sac City College Theatre department for close to over a year now, she's been involved in all aspects from being a soundboard operator to acting on stage. Her dream is to be a fashion designer and go to school to be an ultrasound tech so that she can afford the luxurious life she wants to live. She would like to acknowledge Shawn W. Nicole S. Lori- Ann, and her Mom because they have all had such a positive impact on her life and are great mentors to her! Ash West - PRIEST, DAVE, MAN 2 Ash West is a junior in high school. #2022Theatre 21: #EmiliaThePlayAU. This was absolutely amazing! A play about the life of a 17th century poet and feminist that is performed by an all female and non-binary cast was always going to be something I enjoyed, but this really surpassed expectations. It’s hilarious, and powerful and full of so many things that are sadly, still so relevant today. The way this story builds is so glorious and that final monologue is just 👌. The cast was superb and I’m so glad I was still able to see if after a week of rescheduling. Absolutely worth a watch! I’ve seen three shows in the last week, all very different, but all very worth of the praise and the standing ovations. This is the awesome cast of Emilia, for United Players, directed by Lois Anderson, opening next week. It’s been such a unique experience so far, I can’t wait to be in it together with audiences. Emilia was commissioned for Shakespeare‘s Globe and was written by Morgan Lloyd Malcolm. The award-winning play premiered in 2018 and is designed to be performed by an all-female cast. This play tells the story of writer Emilia Bassano, through her own eyes. Was she Shakespeare’s real-life “dark lady” and what do we know about her?
