NEW LIMITED EDITION: Fully Cooked Smoked Kielbasa Coil (220g, $7.99) This one’s a little different for us but we’ve had so many requests for this type of product that we had to make it happen. SAUSAGE STROGANOFF We’ve got another tasty creation from @baldsmo to share with you today. You may never make stroganoff with beef again after giving this a try. It’s super easy and the delicious sausage makes it even more flavourful. We are certain it will become a family favourite. Shopping List 1 pack of Fuge Sausage (Peruvian or Chorizo Verde), removed from casing & crumbled 1 tablespoon butter 1 tablespoon vegetable oil 1 cup thinly sliced mushrooms 1 teaspoon kosher salt, plus more to taste 1/2 cup diced onion 2 cloves minced garlic 1 tablespoon flour 2.5 cups chicken or beef stock 1 cup water 2.5 cups dried egg noodles 1/2 cup sour cream, plus more for serving 2 tablespoon sliced chives or green onions 1 tablespoon freshly ground black pepper Directions Melt butter and oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add mushrooms, season with salt and sauté stirring occasionally until they turn golden brown, 5-10 minutes. Remove mushrooms and set aside. Crumble sausage and cook in the same skillet until all of the pink is gone, drain all but 1 tablespoon of fat. Add onions and cook until the turn soft and translucent, about 5 minutes. Season with black pepper and kosher salt, stir in minced garlic and flour and cook for 1 minute. Stir in stock and water and bring to a simmer. Cook, stirring occasionally for 10 minutes. Reduce heat to medium and mix in noodles. Cover with a tight-fitting lid and simmer for 5 minutes. Uncover and stir thoroughly. Cover again and cook until noodles are just tender, about 3 minutes. We have adjusted our delivery service for the Red Deer, Lacombe, and Sylvan Lake areas. Going forward we will be heading to these spots once every 2-3 weeks on a scheduled day. Brad was born with a congenital heart defect and underwent his first heart surgery at 11 days old at the University of Alberta Hospital. That was followed by another major surgery a couple years later at the age of 5. Fast forward 47 years and Brad was in late-stage heart failure, he needed a transplant but his body couldn’t support it. Instead of a transplant the amazing medical team at the MAZ fit Brad with a VAD to replace his failing heart and it is because of the skilled team at the MAZ that Brad is with us today. It’s about time we introduce the newest member of the Fuge Sausage ownership team, Chef Brad Smoliak (@baldsmo). If you recognize this face (and we expect many of you will) it’s likely you know his amazing story, maybe you’ve even been lucky enough to experience his culinary talents. If you are meeting him for the first time Brad is an accomplished chef, a prominent figure in the Edmonton culinary scene, and a community builder. As a chef Brad has done it all, he’s opened restaurants, represented Canada on the international stage, and even had the opportunity to cook for the former Queen. Brad brings decades of experience to our team and he’s one of those people that everybody in the industry knows and loves. He joined the Fuge team because he loves the products that we make, aligns with the approach we are taking to building the business and truly lives our company purpose “To Make Life Taste Great.” Since joining the Fuge team Brad has been helping grow our customer base in the restaurant and retail space. Sausage Chowder Our friend @baldsmo is at it again this week with another delicious creation. In his own words “The great thing about Fuge Sausage is you don’t need a whole lot else to make a great dish because the sausage packs so much flavour!” This one works great with a wide range of sausages so pick your favourite and go for it. Shopping List: 1 pack of Fuge Chorizo Verde, or Andouille, or Peruvian sausages (uncased) 2 Tblsp Olive Oil 1 Cup Onions, sliced 1 Cup Red Pepper, sliced 1 Tblsp Crushed Garlic 1 28oz Can Whole Tomatoes 1 Tblsp Paprika 0.25 Tsp Crushed Red Pepper Flakes 4-6 Cup Chicken Stock 2 Cup White Cabbage, shredded (optional) 1 Cup Potatoes, medium diced 0.5 Cup Barley Directions: In a deep Dutch oven or soup pot heat the olive oil and add the uncased sausage, cook until lightly browned. Remove and set aside, drain all but 2 Tblsp of the fat. Add the sliced onions and peppers, cook until soft. Add crushed garlic and cook another 3-5 minutes until the garlic becomes fragrant. Add remaining ingredients including sausage and bring to a simmer. Simmer gently for 1 hour or until barley is tender.
