Set Clear Expectations: From the initial contact, be transparent about your communication process and timeline for follow-ups. Let the couple know when they can expect to hear back from you. Provide Value in Every Interaction: Offer helpful information, tips, or resources in your communications, even before they become paying clients. This demonstrates your expertise and builds trust. Use Multiple Communication Channels: If you haven't received a response to your initial email, try reaching out through a different channel such as phone calls or social media messages. Offer Incentives or Special Deals: If appropriate provide incentives for couples to re-engage with you, such as limited-time offers, or bonus services. I spend a lot of time talking to wedding pros and *also* keeping an eye on what they're saying online, and basically what I'm hearing is this: ❤ Some people are booked out for 2024 ❤ So many people are claiming to be booked out for 2024 that it's sending anyone who *isn't* booked out into a panic ❤ Some people are behind for 2024 but weirdly ahead for 2025 ❤ Literally no one is immune from getting ghosted by couples anymore And we're still seeing ripple effects from the pandemic (in other words, it's like the fifth consecutive ~weird~ year for wedding pros). Get in, we’re making our inquiry forms more inclusive! Three reasons why: 1) It leaves the door open for all couples: bride/bride, groom/groom, bride/groom—or a couple where someone doesn’t identify as either. 2) Even if they are a bride/groom couple, we don’t want to assume that the bride is taking on 100% of planning and the groom is the secondary contact. 3) Sometimes your form is being filled out on behalf of the couple by a planner, a parent, or someone else. Which term to use? It depends on your brand voice, and how often your inquiries come from someone *other* than the person getting married. P.S. Make sure you’re also using inclusive terms *throughout* your client experience, from questionnaires to contracts. Writing Claudia's website (@claudiaseguiphotography) was a bit of a through-the-looking-glass experience for me, because I'd actually *been* in front of her camera. Everyone has been SO sweet, and each one inspires me more than the last! This weekend my husband and I had the chance to meet up with @haleighrenaephoto in Fort Wayne for some photos and she worked her magic! ✨ . Haleigh is so sweet — we met at a styled shoot in January this year and hit it off right away. At the shoot I remember connecting creatively over a few detail shots, working together to get just the right look 🥰 . During our session she was encouraging and helpful, and made our time together FUN 🎉 It’s experiences like this that make me love and appreciate our creative community even more!
