I can finally reveal my next exclusive design for the Homespun Needlework (Cross Stitch and Samplers) Facebook Group… Introducing Sophia Neal, 1832 - a Norfolk sampler reproduction! ❤️ Sophia Maria Neal was born in West Walton, Norfolk, in 1823. She was one of 3 children born to Edward Neal, a farmer, & his wife, Sophia Kemp. She married a local farmer’s son, Samuel Robb, when she was 19 years old, and they went on to have 11 children of their own. My family and I travelled down to Norfolk in February, and spent a wonderful few days visiting Sophia’s birthplace, and Outwell, where she and Samuel brought up their large family. Sophia’s sampler is a whopping 268 by 390 stitches. I stitched the model on 36ct ‘Sleeping Bear’ by Needle & Flax Linens, using Weeks Dye Works & DMC threads (using 1 strand throughout). There are over one stitches in Sophia’s name, age, and the date, however, I provide an over two version, so it is suitable to be stitched on Aida. Eyelets are used in one of the alphabets, and 3 of the bands. I am thrilled to say that both Acorns & Threads (USA) and The Crewel Gobelin (Australia) will be providing the kits for Sophia’s sampler! Both shops will ship internationally, however, Jeannine (Acorns & Threads) has asked if you could call the shop if you require international postage. Put a bit of time into southern seas beauty by Owl forest. I did choose a light pink and stitch some of the small motifs but didn’t like it so I unpicked it.. New start this weekend! For an April start I just had to begin Spring Quaker. When I went to an LNS to get all the needs for this, they had the called for Blooming Crocus Classic Colorworks floss. However, I wanted to get the 3 skeins called for, but the LNS didn't have three matching skeins from the same dye lot. I looked around and settled on Peoria Purple by #weeksdyeworksfloss . Hi 🖤 I started this pattern (oceanarium by @theprimitivehare ) last summer and gave it up at the end of last year as I decided I didn’t like stitching with 2 strands… I recently changed my mind and as a result have picked this and a few other projects back up. Finally a finish on the Basketful of Summer Time by @brenda_gervais With Thy Needle and Thread. This was so fun to stitch and is probably my favorite stitch so far this year. I love the bright red, white and blue and the sweet images with the girl and dog with the flags and the house. This was done on washed and tea stained natural 18ct Aida using mostly @dmc_embroidery substitutes other than the @classiccolorworks chili pepper and @weeksdyeworks Oscar. Finished stitching #letlovegrowpinkeep by @stacynashdesigns and this felt like the perfect stitch to add my grandmother’s name. She loved flowers and the symbol of the white dove. Two loves of hers. And her 💜 has grown in me. She passed on to meet her Lord Monday April 1st. She lived a full life of 91 years. I have been so blessed to have had her for 51 of my years on this earth but it’s still hard to have her gone. She was a staple of my life and made a huge impact on my life & who I have become. She will always be in my 💜 & mind. Bless you Grandma & may God keep you!!
