The shop hosted another great gravity ride on Tuesday. Raspberry and Headleys was a delight. Some face slappers for sure in the summer growth, but that just adds to the challenge. One thing we enjoy about Wilson Creek is the gnar. Rocks, roots mixed with fast downhills. Challenges are good for the soul. I have abused this @salsacycles Blackthorn for 3 years now. Very impressed with how it’s held up to Pisgah riding. No creaks, no issues, just replace chain and small parts as needed. Images from last weekend, shooting the stars from a high bald near our campsite in Wilson Creek with @pisgahpaparazzi - The moon was almost full, and whereas that’s typically not ideal for astrophotography, I like how it illuminates the forest in the foreground. - In the first image, just above the horizon line of the ridge, there are two exceptionally bright stars directly above one another. Last weekend I managed to escape to the mountains for a few days. It has felt more and more difficult to get away recently, and I was long overdue for a forest immersion. Got in two days of riding, some car-camping, some photography hikes, and spent time with Buds @pisgahpaparazzi , @derekatkins , @the_hemlock_house , and others. To be honest. I wasn’t thrill with the “new” schoolhouse trail when it opened. Stupidly, I loved the old ruts. It was like a rite of passage, few of you can relate. I’m learning though….. and really I didn’t like of because I didn’t know how to ride it. While my Strava time doesn’t show yet that I know how to throw it around each berm. I’m learning to like it. More manuals, more leaning the bike……and less brakes. In my defense 9 out of 10 times, I ride this trail at night. It adds to the thrill and difficulty, yet makes it hard to remember each turn. A remarkable day in the woods with friends! Wilson “shuttle ride” was a so rad. Quotes because there always climbing involved regardless of the rad descending. The boys on the DH bikes did great regardless, 😝 and with just about 30 folks it’s amazing we only had one flat!!! I’d call this day a success and loads of fun.
