8/16/22 I took the boys sailing and I think I made passable polywogs out of the bunch. We met at the lake Hattie boat ramp at 4:30 and got on the water by 5:00 pm. Attempts were made at trolling but the tackle was quickly stowed when the crew (@brady_wag, @fletcher.wadsworth and @christian.bitzas) opted for a more sailing focused experience. We shared some drinks and set a westward heading toward the far end of the lake. Winds were out of the east so we surfed our way down. I laid down on the bow to capture this moment as we were on our way back just after sunset. More to come from this trip over on @north_western_odyssey. First I want to apologize for the image quality. The 📷 lens was dirty and no amount of sharpening can fix it. But I want to make this post so you are stuck with it. To some this is just another lake day, but to me it’s much more. There is something pure and magical about sailing. And sharing the experience with some greenhorns is extra special. Moving without a motor is an amazing sensation, no sound except wind and waves (and my off key sea shanties). The experience ignites the imagination, as a sense of wonder and adventure is bestowed upon all who enter King Neptune’s 👑Realm. Thirty minutes before I took this photo, @epilkerton23 and Brennan didn’t know the difference between a halyard and a sheet.
