"Salut! Sunt Flavia și îmi place să împărtășesc povești vizuale cu oamenii din jurul meu. Sunt artist vizual cu o dorință nestăvilită de a ilustra și reda în imagini povești, idei și concepte. Am studiat pictura în liceu și design-ul în facultate, una din cele mai bune și creative perioade din viața mea unde eram mereu în atelier și experimentam ceva nou. În paralel cu școala, am parcurs toate etapele unui student în căutări, pictură de șevalet în culori de ulei și desenat crochiuri în cărbune, a urmat perioada de handmade unde am făcut. În timpul masterului am început și să lucrez ca designer grafic, perioadă în care am trecut pe la diverse companii și am experimentat munca în publicitate. Ilustrația a venit ulterior, după câțiva ani de muncă full-time în domeniul vizual unde simțeam că nu e suficient de tangibil - aveam nevoie de hârtie, pensule și culori pentru a-mi reda gândurile și ideile ceva mai diferite față de cererile clienților Inspirată de plantele din jurul meu, de ieșirile în natură dar și de operele altor artiști, am început cu ilustrații botanice în acuarela cu dorința de a reda pe hârtie ce vedeam în viața reală. Îmi place să spun că stilul meu e contemporan și curat. Fără a reda realismul în compozitie, încerc de fiecare dată să interpretez formele și să randez din imaginație. De curând am prins curaj în a experimenta tehnici mixte și a integra personaje în lucrările mele, din dorința de a schimba puțin direcția și de a lărgi spectrul vizual, cromatica și texturile. Îmi doresc ca ilustrațiile mele să poată fi utilizate ca printuri, pentru coperți de cărți și pentru design de ambalaj dar și ilustrație editorială pe viitor." Young Lions was a wild one this year with the brief revolving around food waste with client @secondharvestca . @nate.d.leung and I formed the designer duo team in the print category. We tested our psyche on this one with 14 hours of discussions on plates, type treatment and corn mold. Was there a moment where we uploaded the document and almost pressed "submit" before panicking and working on the spread for another hour and a half? A Saturday morning well-spent judging Young Lions PR Competition. We listened to presentations from ten teams of young professionals who created their proposals in just 24 hours - truly fresh ideas right out of the oven! Well-done to all the participants for their incredible energy and dedication. This year's theme, in partnership with the NGO @getredressed , focused on raising awareness about the circular fashion industry, was particularly timely, given our city's recent growing interest in waste reduction and environmental protection. It was inspiring to see how the teams translated the brief into creative thinking and practical PR strategies. Had a blast playing a @doubledashdudes set yesterday with my boy-o @dariolapoma for @thesquarepdx's noon performance series— this time, we got to play for a bunch of PSU Students at Montgomery Plaza. Dario and I have been playing together for 5 years now, and we're always trying to improve our lock-up, learn more tunes (each others, our own, and other peoples'), and make things feel as effortless as possible, and we're looking forward to many shows, big and small, in the coming months, so stay tuned.
