For several years the fascination for these animals has taken me through several forests, trails and places that have amazed me. I have heard so many stories and unfortunately I have also seen many of these beings killed by ignorance.
If we talk about snakes, perhaps those of the subfamily Dipsaine is one of the most interesting ecologically and evolutionarily. Although most species in this group feed mainly on snails. That is not their only diet and even recently they were sighted predatory medium-sized reptiles. Something interesting in this group of snakes is that many of them do not have a specialized fang for the inoculation of venom. In addition, It is believed that these snakes have no venom. However, they do possess it. Although it is not a risk to humans.
The interesting thing about this poison that has a high specificity and acts on certain metabolic pathways that could help us in treatments against various diseases.
