Everyone here at the Loyal Edmonton Regiment Museum is saddened to hear of the fire that destroyed Hangar 11 at Blatchford Field. The loss of this historic site is significant to the Edmonton community. Hangar 11 was built during the Second World War and used by the United States military to winterize aircraft before they were sent to Russia. Both Hangar 11 and Hangar 14, where the Alberta Aviation Museum is located, are important landmarks in Edmonton that help to tell the story of contributions made by the City during the Second World War.
