Hello everyone and welcome to Intrinsic Agency! I would like to properly introduce myself. My name is Ari, and I am a cult survivor. It has been a very long and treacherous road to get to the point of letting my story be known, and a decision that has forever changed my perceptions of my situation and my life. I was 19 when I joined this unknown cult, and I involuntarily left around the age of 23, due to the passing of our leader and my husband. 5 years after his passing, I enrolled in college majoring in psychology and philosophy, which was completely life changing. Learning what I had learned, I was finally able to realize that I had indeed been deceived and indoctrinated into a cult. While I understood what had happened to me, I had truly no idea of how this had affected me long term. I went through very manipulative and abusive situations time and time again, I was unable to make my own decisions, had trouble saying no, and really had no sense of who I actually am. I am here today to offer what I have learned to those who need to hear, to help people to find their sense of selves again without undue influence or coercion, and to really understand what it means to be autonomous. I will be further detailing my story, what I have learned, and the stories of others on my podcast DisAllusioned. If anything, I hope everyone can learn something from this. We've always known that the mass suburbanization of America wasn't sustainable. We just chose again and again to deny it. From the Saturday Evening Post in 1955: "From sewers to schools to maniacal traffic, their problems seem nearly insoluble, yet these sub-cities grow... Too many people in too much of a hurry have created a massive municipal headache...Highways are inadequate and overloaded...Sewage-disposal systems lag hopelessly under an overload...
