But the mysterious Holder has been keeping secrets of his own, and once they are revealed, Sky is changed forever and her ability to trust may be a casualty of the truth. My thoughts: I wasn’t sure I was going to like this book after reading the prologue. It gave me vibes of it all being a classical romance, which are not my favorites. It is a personal preference, but normally I dislike overly mellow and cheesy romances. However, I have to admit that I was totally hooked to the story. I eventually started to question my preference and all, as I was totally consumed by the characters, their relationship, the romance, and all the context. It was easy to follow, but still complex enough to be engaging. Additionally, the characters were really well depicted and you could really connect to them. To my delight, a little bit over halfway through the book there is a classical Colleen Hoover plot twist. Those never disappoint and she really nailed both the plot twist and the timing in this one. I didn’t see it coming and it added so much depth and beauty to the narrative that it was hard to put the book down afterwards. IT'S OK TO REACT TO THE WORLD, especially when it's tough. You're human. Don't try to eliminate all 'negative' emotions. You can't. And you shouldn't. Acknowledge them, allow them, accept them. BUT THE KEY IS TO NOT LET THEM CONTINUE LONGER THAN NEEDED. Ride the wave, then nip them, cut them and set them free from that moment. Reset them. With an expiration date on their arrangement, how real could they allow things to get? I really enjoyed this one. I still think Cade and Willa’s book was my favourite…I mean Cade, he’s top tier for me 🥰. But this book was so much better than I thought it was going to be. A really well written age-gap romance, thirteen years doesn’t seem so much when Bailey’s had the upbringing from hell, and an experience that’s aged her far beyond her years. At times she actually seems more mature and pragmatic than Beau, thanks to some strong writing. Beau straddled the line between traumatised veteran and fierce protector of Bailey so brilliantly, it made the book so much more enjoyable to see both sides to his personality, and the relationship contrasting depending on the situation made it a really interesting read. I do think sometimes Beau’s trauma was oversimplified in the writing, I couldn’t quite believe it could be that simple to get over something so traumatising, and it niggled at me that it was glossed over so neatly. Seeing him in “Seal Team” really expanded my view of his capabilities as an actor. He was great in a military role and so I knew he’d be perfect for Beau! He can also pull off PTSD, a quiet intensity and seriousness, while also having a sly humor like Beau. With Bailey, I once saw a post about how it was interesting they never cast an actual 23 year old to play Carlisle Cullen, which of course would’ve highlighted how unbelievable their story in Forks was. HOPELESS and LOSING HOPE by Colleen Hoover 🎇 HOPELESS 🎇 ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️ This was Heartbreaking, emotional and shocking in some parts. (Check Trigger warnings) It’s a story about a girl who loses herself in order to find herself. 💔 Sky and Holder are such a beautiful example of young love and I adored both of them soo much. 🥰 The ending was predictable but in the way you hoped it would end which I still enjoyed. 💕 🪶 LOSING HOPE 🪶 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5 Losing Hope is a sequel told from Holder’s POV and I enjoyed this more than Hopeless. This follows the same storyline that seemed final in Hopeless but it definitely deserved to be told again. There were some pieces that were missing and it all came together so flawlessly. 👌🏻 The journal was so sweet and so sad. 😭 I loved that we got to read more about Les and also met Daniel who was super funny. I look forward to reading his story in the next book.
