Petit bilan de cette magnifique compétition pour laquelle je suis très contente du physique affiché et du look que j’ai pu amener sur scène pour mes tout débuts en compétition NPC… presque 8 ans après ma 4eme place à NFS ( #mamiebikini) . 🥇en True Novice 🥇en Novice Mais ce sont bien là plutôt des médailles d’or plaqué chocolat puisque j’étais la seule concurrente dans ces catégories 😌 🏅Et je me place 5/6 en Open class C sur un plateau de filles absolument magnifiques 🤩 donc je ne suis absolument pas déçue, cette place est totalement méritée! . Je suis vraiment ravie du déroulé de cette journée et de cette expérience qui m’aura aussi permise de pratiquer mon posing en « conditions réelles ». . Ce post est aussi l’occasion de faire une mention spéciale à mon homme @fitkanga mon partner in crime, au gym et dans la vie, qui m’a toujours soutenue et supportée durant cette préparation, dans les hauts comme dans les bas! Il m’a aidé avec mes séances d’entraînement. Ajusté mon volume au quotidien selon mon ressenti, adapté les séances lors de ma blessure au dos. Cuit des kilos de riz pour moi. A patiemment pris mes photos check-ins toutes les semaines. A été faire des courses… et des compléments de courses… et des compléments de compléments de courses au supermarché. M’a fait du café. S’est exilé dans le bureau pendant des heures pour me laisser travailler mon posing dans le salon. A porté mes packs d’eau. Réajusté mon bikini. A été présent avec moi en backstage jusqu’au dernier moment avant de monter sur scène. A supporté ma mauvaise humeur ou ma mauvaise foi (because you know… I’m a pain in the ass) 🤣 La liste est encore longue. Pour tout ça merci… #grateful . A progress update. @texas_woman27 has been managing my diet and things are going incredibly well. This morning I woke up at 204.4lbs. February 23 I was waking at 188.8lbs. Roughly under 16lbs gained in a little under 2 months. To say I’m happy is an understatement. My strength in the gym is also improving tremendously. Last training block I finished with a 540x2 squat, a 319x5 bench, a 342x2 close grip bench, and a 700x2 conventional deadlift. I’ll be competing in July at 220 and the plan is to fill that out as much as possible. After the meet I’ll hang around there and potentially put on more size, then work my way down in weight and body fat to get ready for a bodybuilding show in December. Aiming for The Battle of Texas NPC show. 2024 had a bit of a rocky start but things are trending in a great direction, and I plan to keep it that way. I tell people all the time who ask me about shows that body building is a real life continuous self help reality check. They always ask, “what does it take?” I jokingly say, “everything, and all you got. Money & your soul” On the backside, I mean it. It is the definition of how much are you willing to give in order to get back? This is the one thing you have to put the work in to get a result. Doesn’t matter how rich, talented, cool, or genetically blessed you are, you can’t outwork a bad diet and you’ve gotta put work in like the next one. Cardio doesn’t make you skinny. Women, Weight training doesn’t make you look like a dude. There’s no magic pill. A gallon of water isn’t impossible. You CAN eat your grams of protein in body weight a day. Whole Foods are your friend. Simplicity in key, don’t get caught up in the gimmicky bs. You aren’t too busy. You’re lazy. It isn’t a priority. Call it wtf it is. You’ve gotta be all in or all out. I don’t like admitting here, even in this photo, I was struggling. I wasn’t addressing issues that needed addressing in my head, that were triggering a stress response to a eating disorder, causing me to self destruct. vicious cycle. Your competition isn’t other people. Your competition is your procrastination. Your ego. The unhealthy food you’re consuming, the knowledge you neglect. The negative behavior you’re nurturing & your lack of creativity. Compete against that. You may or may not be perfect when you start this journey. & that’s okay. I’m fixing to start my 4th prep in this now and I finally feel like I have a handle. Still not perfect. I’ll still struggle with things when I’m weeks deep in prep. But I’ve fallen in love with the process. I Fkn love rice. lol I could’ve gagged a maggot when I was handed my first ever protocol with all the rice. The gym is a source of love & peace for me not intimidation. I look at people vastly different. I look forward to all the walking. Water is the greatest thing ever. Happy NEW year!! Let’s talk about habits you should bring into 2024!!! Let’s talk about 5 ways to help you reach your goals and stay fit!! 1) getting enough rest! This one has always been a tough one for me considering I over schedule myself to death. This is important for recovery & burnout! You CAN reach goals by only weight training 3-4 days a week! 2) Staying active outside the gym! This can look like many different things, but pick things you enjoy! For example I love hiking with my dog. Everyone’s activity level is different but staying moving is important! 3) Look for joy in the gym. I make this my safe place to feel everything I need to feel. I switch up my routines every 4-5 weeks for avoid getting bored! Always add in workouts you enjoy doing that is relevant to the body part you’re focusing on that day! 4) Experimenting with food in the kitchen! Eating healthy doesn’t have to be boring! There are many ways you can still include your favorite foods in your diet. When you limit everything you enjoy, you’re more likely to fail. 5) last but not least, keep life fun and interesting! Keep your mind engaged by trying new hobbies and learning a new task! Wow 😍🩷 I love my stage pics … My first USA 🇺🇸 NATIONALS .. let’s do a quick recap Today I did show number 5 after having a baby being 11 months postpartum… I competed at my first NPC show Ronnie Coleman Classic back in May 4 months after giving birth and qualified for Nationals. Today I didn’t win but I accomplished my goal, my dream, I love my body and how I looked. This time tomorrow I’ll be stepping on a national stage—a stage when I started this journey I would have never imagined stepping on, much less belonging on. I can genuinely say this prep has been everything. From the struggles to the growth. I can honestly say I’m so proud of not only the physique I’m bringing but also who it’s molded me in being mentally and spiritually! We are always pushing for the win and with that attitude in mind, the outcome tomorrow glorifies God regardless of what placement comes behind it. The outcome will be what it was always meant to be. The outcome will honor my journey exactly the way it needs to and will honor God’s kingdom exactly the way it needs to. So tomorrow I put on those heels, I will walk across that stage like I belong there, because I do. After roughly an 18 hr day yesterday, posting an update last night was asking too much! With roughly 400+ competitors, I took 1st place in Masters 35 and up and 2nd place in Open class A. My overall physique was hands down the best look I’ve ever took to the stage. Each show, my body has responded well and been more comfortable getting leaner and leaner. (Thanks to some amazing help from Holly Chambliss, 😉). The first place finish qualified me for nationals…which just so happens to be next weekend…in Irving….how convenient right?!! Stage shots are out and I've been impatiently waiting to brag about the beautiful Ava Potts. She competed in her first competition last weekend at the NPC Atlantic Coast Championships in Florida; just 4 days after her 18th birthday. She slayed the stage as if she had stepped on many times and coming home with some serious hardware. 🏆 1st place - Teenage Division 🥈 2nd place - True Novice 4th place - Novice I was blessed to work with her all throughout her prep and also a couple months of her building season, and I'm so proud of the work she put in! We were able to build her glutes, build her shoulders, perfect her posing and transform her confidence! She hit protocols to a T and executed 110%. Truly the HARDEST working 18 year old I know. “You’re the strongest person I know” I don’t wear it like a badge. I don’t parade it around like a compliment. I had to be. Let me repeat that, I. Had. To. Be. I had no other choice. No other option. I didn’t have a family to fall back on, parents to depend on, a spouse to count on. I’ve been poor, broke, dug change out of my seats to put gas in my vehicle to make it to work, stole food to eat from the dollar store down the street and the manager would turn her back, knowing. I’ve been homeless. Broke into sheds, garages, and offices in the dead of winter with no heat to sleep on concrete floors pregnant. Showered at my job because it had hot water. I’ve had every single bill due at the same time with a negative in my account and had to choose which bill could be shut off and I could do without. I’ve been to the literal pits of hell and come back. I’ve fought, I’ve been down n out, I’ve contemplated suicide, ive struggled with alcohol, I’ve coped with self medicating and food, I’ve screamed & yelled at God. First ever show is one for the books! My goal for the show was to soak in and learn as much as I could from my first show, even if I didn’t win - the show humbled me and made me hungry seeing that I can actually compete at level with these bigger guys.
