Challenge Accepted! 💪🏻 After hearing a recent episode of The Mud Peddlers podcast about setting goals and taking some motivation from @donovanpottery’s #500in5days challenge, I’ve decided to challenge myself! 👇🏻 My plan is to throw 15 pieces 4 times per week. This amounts to 3,120 pots over a year. 🤔 I know this seems like a pretty simple and maybe “easy” goal to set since I can already surpass throwing 15 pots in a single sitting, but I have some reasoning behind it. The intention here is to get into the studio 4 times per week (which I don’t always get) to make new work and it can be anything (shot glasses, mugs, spoon rests, new forms, etc). My plan is to accomplish something each day I’m in the studio by throwing 15 items and feeling a sense of accomplishment. This also leaves time to move other work along in the process that may need to be completed (trimming, attaching handles, carving, glazing, loading kilns, etc). 🤓 This goal is to focus on discipline, consistency, & longevity. When I set goals or plans for myself, I want to follow through and give it time to play out. I hope this is just the beginning of something I’ll be continuing 6 months from now.
