Back in the ring to take another swing. 3 and 4 runner fit up complete and see if I remember how to weld aluminum? The Welding Gods were with me today. The tricky thing with mandrel bends is the inside radius portion the wall thickness is almost double the what the outer is. As you weld around the two tubes on a butt joint the thicknesses are constantly changing. Have to adjust amperage and where in the puddle you add the fill rod. Used a burr cutter and flapper wheel on a die grinder to clean up the inner diameter. Had a test flight in is futuristic Saab 900 2.3 Apparently they call it The New Generation. ...A really beautiful example: One owner garage car with only 139k on the clock, aircon and electric everything, smooth idle and acceleration. Sadly, the car that seen some neglect. The car had no MOT, the engine warning light was ON, starter motor broken, the wheel arches were crusty, the gear stick had a concering wobble while driving, the clutch and throw-out bearing needed service and replacement. Utilizing @icengineworks modeling blocks for the runners. Not the correct diameter, but it is the kit I used when I built my headers. CLR is still the same and no volume/clash issues with an intake’s runners. Now that I’m pretty happy with the mock-up I can order mandrel bent tubing sizes and quantity with confidence. The components are located on a base plate and clamped to help establish placement and make connections from A-B, four times synchronous. We've had exotics, super cars, 1000+hp Supras, hotrods, and more. One thing we have not had as of yet is the almighty Saab! We had not one but two Saab 900 Turbos join us this past Saturday for quite the showing. Both of these cars were in immaculate shape, and we're both great examples of late 90s performance that's been preserved. Yes, we did say performance; back in the late 90s when fuel economy was a huge thing, and 2 door 4 seater cars were immensely popular, the Saab 900 Turbo actually was one of the top 3 fastest accelerating cars of that type. The humble inline 4 turbo produced roughly 180 horsepower and roughly 200 ftlbs of torque, putting this car at the top of the list for quite a few family enthusiasts.
