I point the car off the main road and onto a twisted two-lane road that clings to the rising ridgesides as it coils back on itself again and again. The Carrera RS is right at home. Porsche graced it with a quicker steering rack, and its hydraulic assist reminds us how good power steering was before an army of microprocessors stood between us and the road. It doesn’t take long for this car to reveal just how special it is. There is no understeer, just a wide plateau of grip. And Lord, the sounds. Gear whine and injector tick, all the mechanical goodness that’s been banished from modern machines. Conventional wisdom says this air-cooled 3.8-liter flat six is lazy compared to Porsche’s earlier, smaller-bore sixes. But it’s a jewel, spinning quicker than a two-valve 3.8 has any right to and making rev-matched shifts an afterthought. Great cars master the art of vanishing, slipping past your consciousness until the steering, the grip, and the brakes become extensions of your will. Such cars are a mindfulness shortcut, firing you at the present moment whether you like it or not. That’s the 993 Carrera RS in a nutshell. While there isn’t a bad gear, second is long enough to play havoc on any series of switchbacks, with the 3.8 digging deep and low for torque before it stretches for the redline. Rinse, repeat. Wow! Die neuste Episode ist gespickt von Erlebnissen: Was für ein Tag! Ursprünglich wollte ich an diesem frühlingshaften Samstag das erste Cars & Coffee von Grundehrlich stattfinden lassen (etwas spontan), aber nachdem leider fast niemand so kurzfristig es sich einrichten konnte - habe ich euch „virtuell“ über Instagram-Stories mitgenommen. Ihr konntet mitentscheiden, wo es hinging. Ob über Landstraße oder in einen Steinbruch - was ich an diesem Tag alles erleben durfte, war der Wahnsinn. Hightlight war defintiv abends die Eröffnung der Vernissage von Tobias Kindermann @crozzroad911 @gtspeed_de und Nikita @sechszylinder_art auf Schloss Hohenstein in der Nähe von Coburg. Mit dabei war kein geringerer als Porsche Rallye- und Ingenieurlegende Roland Kussmaul! Neben dem 964 Cup und RS war er unter anderem auch beim Carrera GT und auch beim 924 Carrera GTS beteiligt! Ein witziger Zufall führte zu einem einzigartigen Andenken und womöglich wartet (leider) die nächste Baustelle am Porsche... Aujourd'hui, la vente Artcurial lors de Rétromobile, avec toujours des modèles d’exception ! J'ai gardé seulement les meilleures photos donc pas forcément les voitures les plus rares ni les plus chères de cette vente. On commence avec une très rare BMW M1 GTR Procar, une des 54 préparées pour la compétition, avec un historique de course de 1983 à 1986. La suivante est encore plus rare avec seulement 45 exemplaires produits : la Porsche 993 Cup 3.8 RSR de 1997, avec un historique de course en Asie puis en Australie avant de rejoindre l’Angleterre. Ensuite, une des 63 Lamborghini Sian, voiture très impressionnante à voir en vrai. Puis deux McLaren que je voulais voir depuis longtemps, en premier la McLaren Senna produite à 500 exemplaires et une McLaren P1 produite, elle, à 375 exemplaires. Et enfin deux autres voitures très rares, en premier plan une Ford GT Héritage Édition (50 exemplaires) et une incroyable McLaren Speedtail (106 exemplaires). Ces dernières hypercars n'ont que très peu roulé et sont issues d'une collection incroyable. Ces photos sont franchement pas folles, mais les conditions étaient particulièrement compliquées (beaucoup de monde, voitures très proches et peu de lumières). 📷 Frank Ocean, Nakai San and Luke Huxham from Mainham Media eating lunch in Tokyo, Japan (2014) The trio filmed a project that remains unreleased focusing on Frank's trip to Japan and the underground car culture. Frank would spend much of the year in Tokyo living in hotels and writing music. He worked closely driving around Japan and finding the best car spots, and scouring abandoned stores for souvenirs to take back to London. He then visited Ebisu circuit where Luke taught him how to drift. Frank's personal media crew filmed the entire thing although the content has never been released.
