Zeta Project- Crime Waves The story sees Zeta and co work to protect a spoilt rich kid. The setting of the story is a nice, refreshing change of pace, seeing the story set on a beach island, rather than a cold, futuristic city. The bright colours and the happy nature of everything is a good step away from the usual, seriousness of the story. It’s also pretty funny seeing how impatient Zeta gets from relaxing. The idea behind the rich kid is pretty interesting, the story gives us an unlikable character, who’s fully dependent on his money and his reliance with robots. The story also makes him a pretty interesting villain, as he’s not an evil character, he’s just corrupted by his money. Seeing Zeta and Ro learn more about how unlikable this kid is, gives us an interesting story arc as he needs to learn how to treat people. The twist villain of the story is pretty obvious as the rich kid’s personal security guard was the one that kidnapped him. There is no surprise to this as he had the clear motive, he was mistreated by the kid and even framed Zeta and Ro for the crime. If the story made the mystery aspect a bit better, then it would’ve been more interesting. Super Friends- The Baffled Puzzle The story sees the heroes work to find out who stole some priceless books from the library. Something I like about this series is the cringy nature and tone of the show. DC has been known to be dark and serious, so seeing everyone act so upbeat and patriotic was really funny to me. It almost feels like all the characters are acting like Captain America, with the heroes encouraging studying. It’s also pretty funny seeing Batman play snooker with Robin. The show also gives me huge Hannah Barbera vibes, seeing everything like a Scooby Doo cartoon. There’s a mystery, a clueless teenager and even a dog being part of the series. Everything about this feels so… Classic and over the top and I think it’s just really good. One thing I don’t like about the series is that these episodes are way too long, they take a 20 minute story and stretch it out to 45 and it feels like such filler. The overall premise of the story is really silly and weak however, when compared to DC stories from the past 20 years, this one feels so out of place. Seeing the Justice League investigate missing encyclopaedias is such a random thing for them to do, they’re way too over qualified for this. Justice League- Legends The story sees the League sent into another dimension where the Justice League has been replaced by the Justice Guild. I really liked the opening, seeing the League fight off a giant robot in the city, one controlled by Lex Luthor. It’s a simple opening but also sets up how exciting the story is gonna be. The action was fun to watch, even if we only started in the middle of the story. I also feel like it sets off the rest of the story nicely with some of the League members supposedly dying in the fight. The story is more complex that initially thought as, the more you watch the story, the more twists and turn come to light and you are constantly thinking that things aren’t what they seem and the reveal was actually pretty upsetting. The design of the parallel universe is pretty good, it’s just like our world but with a more classic feeling, like everything is set during the 1940’s. There’s a really nice charm to this city as everything is really colourful and lively. We also get a really cool host of new heroes and villains, each of them parodying the Justice Society and their villains. I like the uniqueness behind the new characters like the over the top villain Music Master and the various parodies of classic DC villains like Sportsmaster and Icicle. I love the vibrant designs of the Guild heroes, seeing all their colourful costumes. I like the way everyone is characterised, personally I felt all the new heroes were really likable. I think they were super cringy but in a really funny way. Seeing the more serious League heroes interact with their counterparts was really funny as the two groups couldn’t be more opposite to each other.
