Only 5 of these track-oriented variants were produced, paying homage to the five cars that finished the race. Originally planned in the signature papaya orange, only four were painted as such, with two customised for the Sultan of Brunei. Lighter and more powerful than the standard F1, the F1 LM boasts of impressive performance figures, including a top speed of 225mph and a remarkable 0-100-0mph time of 11.5 seconds. Described as "an untamed Le Mans race car with number plates" by McLaren. Leading legend. Let's talk about that. This is a 1997 McLaren F1. Designed by Gordon Murray and Peter Stevens, the F1 was McLaren's first foray into the automotive market. The car was conceived through a sketch by Gordon Murray while waiting for a flight home from Italy in 1988, who then showed it to Ron Dennis who approved it. The F1 began production in 1992, conceived as an exercise to create what Murray thought of as the ultimate road car. Powered by a 6.1L BMW S70/2 V12, the F1 sends 618 BHP to the rears. With dihedral doors, a carbon fiber monocoque, a central drive position and a 6-speed manual, the F1 was really the ultimate driver's car. With a recorded top speed of 240.1 mph (386.4 km/h), the F1 is the fastest naturally-aspirated car in the world and is often considered one of the greatest, if not THE greatest car, of all time by many enthusiasts. Notable celebrity owners of the F1 include Jay Leno, Elon Musk, Rowan Atkinson, Nick Mason and Lewis Hamilton. Production ended in 1998 with 106 produced (64 road cars, 5 LMs, 2 GTs, 7 prototypes and 28 GTRs), each with some variation in the design. McLaren still actively maintains the remaining F1s with a specialized program, mechanics and equipment. Now this casting was designed by the late Ryu Asada and introduced in 2021 in the HW Exotics segment of the mainline. This casting has seen seven known releases, the last being this one in the Car Culture line. An eighth release is expected some time in 2024. A curiosity: color based on Rowan Atkinson's McLaren F1, which he sold in 2019 (wheels are different though). And it's more incredible that this car was not intended to break all the records it broke. Gordon Murray designed this car to be a practical sports car but it managed to be the fastest street legal car of its time until the Veyron took over. When it comes to McLaren F1s, it’s hard to beat chassis #022. It started out life as a dark blue F1 before being sold to Miles Collier in 2003 who sent it off to McLaren to have it transformed into this @greenovertan masterpiece. It is still apart of the Collier collection and on public display with the rest of his collection at the incredible @revsinstitute. It’s always a special day when you’re in the presence of a McLaren F1. Chassis #073 is extra special as it’s 1 of only 2 F1 road cars that have been upgraded to the more powerful LM engine and of course sporting the High Downforce Kit. Now this doesn’t actually make it a Mclaren F1 LM despite what the plate says, but it’s still an incredibly impressive example. Personally, I’ve never been a massive fan of the spec (never been a huge fan of orange and I’ve never cared for the wheels). However, the sunny Miami sky really made the metallic flake pop and really complemented the car’s appearance. It truly was one of the highlights at @modaevents_official.

This is one of just 2 F1s to be upgraded by MSO with a full LM specification engine. Real LMs are worth twice as much as regular road going F1s so this was a way to get LM performance without paying the price for one. It’s signed by Gordon Murray on the transmission tunnel and I was going to include a photo of it but I completely missed focus lol. This is the first F1 I’ve seen in person and it’s probably one of the best examples out there.
