I do not push a dog to its limits. I do not force a cat to submission. When I have a vulnerable, innocent pet in my care I gradually enroll the animal into a step by step process. I acknowledge their body language and I feel their body and where the tension might be. Some animals are afraid of water, stairs, the sound of the clippers, the sound of the dremel, the smell of the table or tub, the sound of the phone, the company of other people other than their owners or other dogs, the feel of a nail trimmer. I may have mentioned just some of the things that happen. I am a professional. I take what I do seriously. I used to work for places that didn't put the pet first and it was the money that motivated them. Over booking created stress on the groomers and the animals that feel the stress from their groomers. Some of the places I've had experienced forcing a dog to get his nails done while two people hold him down maybe even three and creating a seizure or broken blood vessels. I'm not that groomer. I have had many experiences where I've been told if I don't do it the way I'm told when being concerned about hurting the animal when it's not needed just to get the work done I can find another job. Well those times had come and gone. Being let go for taking a stand for my beliefs has forged the way to now. I'm grateful for my experiences and my knowledge. I work on educating owners on the importance of regular dog and cat grooming. It has been a rewarding venture and yet a niche for me. Most of my clients are very well aware that while I'm with their beloved pet companion they know they can trust me to not harm or force their pet passed their limit. Iām patient and loving with animals. I nurture and reassure animals that it is OK and I know how they are feeling.
