🦋Story time with Ki🦋 It was in June, 2023 when for the first time I had to live at my house without my daughter for 8 days, as she had gone on a vacation with her Nani and Masi. I remember feeling completely lost at my own house for those 8 days. It was as if I didn’t even know who I was, when I was not being her mom. It was catastrophic! I talked to my sister about what I was feeling and I remember saying this to her that I don’t want to project this on Kai. I don’t want to feel that, because I was busy being her mom, I didn’t do anything for myself. So, I made a promise to myself that from now onwards, I am going to take a break for a few days and travel without her just to get to know myself better. To discover the things that makes me happy. To learn who truly I am. This picture is from my recent trip to Goa. This trip was the first of many more to come. It really helped in finding out a couple of things about myself. Holy, mother-to-mother friendships. Sister friends. Those “fill in the gap” friends. Those have been really blowing my mind lately. And inspiring me to be a Mary, who visits Elizabeth. She went for 3 months. Newly pregnant herself. And likely was Elizabeth’s doula or helper of some sort through her birth. Imagine how she tended to her cousin? Swept her floors, prepped her food, held her hand, processed pregnancy and motherhood, the things she must’ve done for Elizabeth in Elizabeth’s postpartum? I read of a friend of mine today whose friend had twins and my friend nursed those twins, because the mother couldn’t. While having a child of her own at home. And another friend, making extra food for dinner every week for a friend who had a baby a few weeks ago. And the friend with 4 children at home who showed up to my ICU hospital room in 2020 to rub my feet and brush my hair. And all of us moms who cover each other in daily mass, between the 21 children we all have with us. What’s really striking to me is the mothers who although tired and busy with their own children and home, still are the first to sign up for the meal trains for new moms, pick up multiple children on top of their own for an afternoon, pile into the bed of a newly postpartum mom who is having a lonely day, show up and clean homes of pregnant and incredibly sick moms, with their own new babies strapped to their backs. It’s that understanding of “sure I’m tired. But my sister needs me right now so I will muster up this strength within me for her” like only a mother can, ya know? It’s selfless. It’s humble. It’s anti-victimhood. It’s receiving help on a Monday and giving help on a Tuesday. We’ll have rest in heaven. For now, we show up. Like Mary to Elizabeth. And we pray every day for our Blessed Mother to inspire us and for God to make us like her. And we receive help like Elizabeth. This beautiful dance of sisterhood. Give and take. Mourn and dance. Ask and give. Start nap time and make a meal. Do homeschool lessons and head over to sweep someone else’s floors. God be praised, for holy woman friendships. Nunca fui uma mulher que fosse louca por uma loja ou marca, até descobrir a magnífica loja @madababystore Tudo começou grávida da primeira filha, quando, através da @geppetto_bypatricia, descobri o conceito de sapato barefoot. Pesquisei, li e conclui que era o estilo de sapato que queria para a minha filha. Os seus primeiros sapatos foram na aquisição da marcha e para usar na rua - uns magníficos ténis @tiptoeyjoey. Entretanto, com a vinda do sol, fomos comprar umas sandálias. With my first born I struggled. I put the needs of others before my baby boy. I crumbled under stress of trying to keep my life in order and keep others happy. I tirelessly pumped and exposed my son to trillions of microplastics just to please others so they could feed him. 🤯 when all my baby needed was me! I destroyed my own breastfeeding journey for many reasons. I gave away my power when my son needed me to stand strong. I left my self nutritionally depleated void of nutrients, unable to provide the nourishment he needed. It wasn’t long before my body caved, the stress accumulated. I gave away every last part of me and had nothing left to give to my baby who needed all of me. I am grateful beyond words that at this time I was able to find a handful of incredible mothers who donated me milk. My heart cracked at 5 months when my supply had diminished to next to nothing… I still pumped what I could .. I just so desperately needed to get to that 1 year finish line. Looking back I know that the milk of those mothers provided diverse microbes for my sons developing microbiome and are probably one of the contributing reasons he is so healthy. Even if my supply hadn’t dropped, there was next to no nutrient value in my milk. Gutted I gave him Oat milk and didn’t know about Raw milk at this point ! When I think back at those first 5 months and compare them to my BF journey now. It makes me feel so sad. I don’t wallow in the regret. But I feel fully the sadness of not standing in my power as a mother and allowing those choices to potentially impact the health of my baby. I feel the sadness of all the times lost that I could of fed my little man to sleep, or gazed into his eyes as he fed. Of course I had those times, but they were short lived and bottle feeding impacted his desire to feed. I now feel every inch of the joy that I experience every. single. feed. with my baby girl. Я пришла к тому мнению, что мои родители ждали и ждут от меня заботы о них и любви, потому что в своё время они не получили этого от своих родителей. В норме родитель заботится о своём ребёнке и не ждёт профита, потому что это его забота, а если ребёнок захотел проявить заботу о родителе сам, то это бонус за хорошее воспитание и эмоциональную близость. Например, моя мама буквально просила заботиться о ней, любви и ласки с моей стороны. Очевидно, что смерть бабушки Таи, её мамы, когда матери было 9 лет, не прошло безоблачно. Я считаю, что она не получила необходимой заботы ввиду бабушкиного недуга, да и ранний уход близкого человека нанёс ей травму. Или отец. У него был ооооочень строгий дед. Да и все старики в доме были после войны. Можно представить масштабы ПТСР. Очевидно, что ремень был главным регулировщиком отношений, плюс ко всему эмоциональный холод со стороны родителей. Его отдавали на воспитание бабушкам, чтобы 'дела делать'. И дополняет картину крайняя тревожность со стороны его матери, а также попытка залеплять эмоциональные дыры материальными вещами. Итог: мы имеем двух травмированных людей, которые передают свои травмы по наследству. Моя тревога, страх и гнев не даёт развиваться.
