⛪Cuaresma 2024: Día 29. ✝️Santa Iolanda ✝️ A 10 días de que llegue el ansiado Domingo de Ramos, haremos este día de Cuaresma la 29ª Estación de Penitencia, dedicada a Iolanda, ganadora del prestigioso "Festival da Cançao", la preselección portuguesa para elegir a su representante en Eurovisión. Iolanda es cantante y compositora. Desde niña ha participado en diferentes concursos musicales (Idol, La Voz, etc), no siempre con buena suerte. En el 2023 sacó su primer EP, en el que ha encontrado su identidad propia combinando pop, R&B y folklore portugués. La Prensa ya la ha bautizado como "la Rosalía portuguesa". Eurovision 2024: My personal top 37 before the show Place: 6th Country: Portugal 🇵🇹 Artist(s): Iolanda Song: Grito Prediction Semi final: 8th-12th Grand final: 10th-20th My opinion: Once again Portugal proved what a quality country they're in ESC, and sadly aren't getting enough attention despite that... Grito is just a wonderful ballads filled with a great emotion which already stood out to me in the FDC line-up since the first listening! It just sounds so Portugeese and authentic and really something that describes the country in this contest, the lyrics are also among the best we have this year and they really hit considering how personal they're to the singer, I also loved the way they staged it in FDC and I hope that they'll keep that for Eurovision. Overall, everything about this song just screams quality and I really hope to see it being appreciated in ESC Ngl that I'm quite worried that we may not see this song in the final especially when there aren't juries voting in the semi, I just can see this not appealing enough to the general audience and that they may not enjoy this enough, but it absolutely also could go through despite those problems. Como tengo que doblar algunos días, o no llegaré a tiempo a las semis, dejaré el día 11 para mañana y haré el 12 para tratar el tema de las voces femeninas, y así pongo todo en un pack. Y casi podría haberme saltado este apartado porque apenas hay voces femeninas este año que me emocionen. Ya hablaré del porqué otro día, pero hay pocos temas para el lucimiento vocal de las chicas este año. Y aunque algunas de las mejore vienen del norte (Islandia, Dinamarca, Noruega), voy a quedarme con la portuguesa Iolanda que se presenta al festival con “Grito”. El motivo te lo cuento ahora mismo. Y es que ha sido la única voz femenina este año que me ha puesto la piel de gallina, y tampoco mucho. Porque en la preselección del país vecino la performance de Iolanda no estuvo mal, quedó bastante elegante, la canción tiene sus momentos y ella tiene una voz cálida que acompaña bien al mensaje. O sea bien, pero todo ello junto no llega al notable. Y es que ya he dicho que creo que este año ha bajado bastante la calidad y añoraremos mucho a la estimulante Mimicat cuando le llegue el turno a Portugal. Anyways, I love this. I just prefer other songs so I can't put it higher. But this was obviously our best choice for us to do good this year because there's not too many ballads/slow songs so we may stand out. I would obviously prefer ...Pelas Costuras because it was an amazing and eurovisionary song with a style we hadn't sent to Eurovision yet, but iolanda was the clear and deserved winner so we stick with it, and maybe we can see a song like João Borsch's in the future in Eurovision. Talking about Grito, it's an amazing and strong song with one of the best vocalists this year. iolanda's high note in the National Final was amazing and I was gaping when I heard it. I really believe that we're able to qualify with it because I'm sure this will stand out + we have an amazing running order too, so let's believe in it. But well, undeservingly and underrated, our combined 19th place goes to Portugal's Grito by iolanda.
