Настоящая короткометражка — первый и осторожный шаг студии Disney на территорию кино для взрослых, о монстрах и охоте на них. Выполнена она в чёрно-белом цвете и общей стилистике, отсылающей к истокам жанра с классическими Франкенштейнами и Дракулами. Осторожным этот шаг я назвал неслучайно, поскольку то, что студия решила прибегнуть к чёрно-белому фильтру, также позволило ей смягчить и не позволить присвоить фильму рейтинг «TV-MA» (создано специально для просмотра взрослыми, и может не подходить детям младше 17 лет). Сюжет прост и повествует об охоте отъявленных головорезов (в большинстве своём) на монстра в лабиринте. Но это был бы не дисней, если бы не переиначил простую сказку на свой добродушный лад, где не все те монстры, что визуально выглядят. Ведь у этой студии и Малефисента, и Круэлла в итоге не являются злом априори. И это лишь картинка у фильма делится на чёрное и белое, а в жизни всегда всё не столь однозначно и имеет свои полутона! Фильм действительно не смотря на хронометраж немногим менее часа, пролетает незаметно, лёгким пассажем знакомя и выводя из сюжета своих персонажей. Основную пару главных симпатичных героев исполнили: - Гаэль Гарсиа Берналь — таинственный охотник с максимальным числом поверженных монстров. Ранее вы могли видеть этого мексиканского актёра в картинах «Сука-Любовь», «Че Гевара», «Вавилон», «Время», «Дурное воспитание», сериал «Моцарт в джунглях». - Лаура Доннелли — дочь убиенного охотника, решившая внезапно сразиться за его могущественный артефакт. Post Credits Scene-Fallon Grey meets Kate Bishop and she's offered a spot on her team called the Young Avengers which she accepts...

At @haroldpintertheatre to see the hotly anticipated @hoctheplay , another collaboration by the dream team of Jez Butterworth and Sam Mendes. It is August 1976, and the UK is experiencing its now famous heatwave. The action unfolds on the ground floor, of a cheap and cheerful Blackpool guesthouse fitted with an endearingly tacky tiki bar and a large jukebox. The hotel is called the Seaview even though it offers no such thing. Upstairs matriarch Veronica is dying agonisingly of cancer. Downstairs three sisters assemble: Jill (Helena Wilson) who stayed at home to look after their mother; Ruby (Ophelia Lovibond) who inherited their mother’s good looks; and Gloria (Leanne Best), permanently furious at the whole world. The potential arrival of eldest sibling Joan from America generates anticipation and unease for them and the audience. The dialogue between the sisters is zippy, and the humour sharp, dark and irreverent. At several points, the set rotates to show us the hotel’s kitchen quarters, and we are transported seamlessly back to the 1950s. We see the sisters as teenagers under the domineering stewardship of their mother, played by an imperiously poised Laura Donnelly, who trains them up as a song and dance troupe that emulates The Andrews Sisters. Veronica is desperate for the sisters to make it big and escape a life of drudgery in Blackpool, and the story pivots on an ill-fated audition with an unscrupulous talent scout. The scene produces a Me Too moment which holds the key to Joan’s long absence and estrangement. I found this part rather ambiguous; was this a maternal betrayal or was teenage Joan fully aware of what was about to happen? The acting performances are tremendous, and the sisters are beautifully portrayed as the smart, tough, and vulnerable women that they are. Rob Howell’s set design was profoundly haunting and towering. Andrew Scott and Belfast's Laura Donnelly are among the nominees for this year's Olivier Awards, celebrating the best in theatre and musical theatre, in the UK. Dubliner Scott is shortlisted in the Best Actor category for his work in Vanya, a new adaptation of the Anton Chekhov play Uncle Vanya, at the Duke of York's Theatre in London's West End. Scott played every role in the production, which he co-created alongside director Sam Yates and adapter Simon Stephens. The production was staged last autumn. Scott previously won Olivier Awards for Present Laughter (Best Actor) and A Girl in a Car with a Man (Outstanding Achievement in an Affiliate Theatre). This year, Donnelly is shortlisted in the Best Actress category for her performance in Jez Butterworth's The Hills of California at the Harold Pinter Theatre in London. She previously won Best Actress for her performance in Butterworth's The Ferryman. The Olivier winners will be announced at London's Royal Albert Hall on Sunday 14 April.
