"hey Logan!" Let's celebrate #vinyladay with an album that came out this year in Once Human's 'Scarweaver'. I'm loving this clear blue they did for this. For those that don't know Logan Mader of Machine Head fame came back a few years ago with this project full of talented individuals including Lauren Hart and Damian Rainaud as a well as others. It's got a very Fear Factory meets Strapping Young Lad and Arch Enemy type vibe. I should also mention they cover "We Ride" by SYL here awesomely. In addition to cool songs like the title track, there's also a Collab with Robb Flynn from Machine Head in "Deadlock" which is a really great song. I really enjoy Lauren's range as a vocalist and this album is a great example of what she can do. ****** Fear Factory - Aggression Continuum Released by: Nuclear Blast Records (@nuclearblastrecords) Format: Double LP 45RPM, grey/light blue/black splatter vinyl, limited to 1,500 copies Pressed at: GZ Media ****** Originally recorded sometime around 2017, this album was in limbo over the past several years due to a serious lawsuit between band members, resulting in bankruptcies, marital breakdowns, and permanent bad blood. Unfortunately, founding member and vocalist Burton C. Bell would officially leave after the lawsuit was finished, leaving Dino Cazares as the last man standing. Despite the setbacks, Dino would revisit the album again and re-recorded some of the guitars and brought in drummer Mike Heller (@mikehellerdrums) to replace the programmed drums, while bringing various guests such as Rhys Fulber (@rhys_fulber), Igor Khoroshev of Yes, and Max Karon of Once Human. Andy Sneap (@andysneap) was also brought in to mix and Damien Rainaud to master the album. The only element that was kept completely intact from the original recording is Burton C Bell's vocals. With help from fans through the GoFundMe campaign, the end result is one of Fear Factory's strongest release since Mechanized, combining the aggression and very good melodies that fans can definitely expect. It also helped that the double vinyl LP uses a dedicated vinyl master straight from the post-mixes, making it the definitive and best sounding release with excellent dynamic range and soundstage. While this is Burton's last contribution to Fear Factory, he definitely went out with a bang with his performance in Aggression Continuum. I know I said that I've listened to these guys since the 90s when I was in junior high but I don't think I've ever explained how much I love fear factory! Anytime I see something of these guys that I don't have I have to pick it up because they're definitely one of my top favorite bands out there! I remember getting into them back in the 90s and being really impressed with the creative mix of heavy metal, industrial metal, electronic music and even just hard rock catchy music. This new album does not fail! I got it on cassette because it was the only version of it I could find at my local record store and also I like a couple new cassettes in my collection. Listening to it right now for the first time and it's just as good as any other album.
