Maleficent: Mistress of evil (2019) Maleficent and her goddaughter Aurora begin to question the complex family ties that bind them as they are pulled in different directions by impending nuptials, unexpected allies and dark new forces at play. It's a fantasy/adventure/family movie, a direct sequel to Maleficent (2014), directed by Joachim Rønning and starring: Angelina Jolie, Elle Fanning, Michelle Pfeiffer, Robert Lindsay, Harris Dickinson, Sam Riley, Chiwetel Ejiofor and Ed Skrein. As a Disney animation fan, I watch all live action versions of the classics, enjoying a lot of them. The live action spin on a Sleeping beauty is not my favourite tho. First Maleficent movie sounded intriguing when it turned out that Angelina Jolie will play the main part (although I'm not the biggest fan of her either). I remember watching that movie, but what exactly was in it, kill me, I have no clue. That's how a strong lasting impression it left on me. Maleficent 2 was a "meh" for me. It was not terrible, I simply didn't care much about that story in a first place and movie didn't convince me otherwise. Probably one of the things that didn't work for me was how extremely far from original they took this story. And it also felt like they didn't know exactly what direction they wanted to go with Maleficent - pretending that she is evil but actually good, but getting easily pissed on everyone and looking scary, then doing the right thing but still not that very much likeable. That was kind of a mess for me. Also apart from Angelina Jolie and Michelle Pfeiffer perfectly portraying an evil queen both prince and princess who played quite important roles in this movie did not appeal to me. Prince Philip was portrayed as (maybe for some handsome) piece of wood and Elle Fanning playing Aurora was bland & lacking any warmth. Not for a second did I feel for her or liked her and for half of the movie she was just staring at Maleficent coming or leaving, because Maleficent presence or lack of it was important, not Aurora's. I guess there is some entertaining value in this movie, with some charming moments but not enough for me to enjoy it.

MALEFICENT: MISTRESS OF EVIL REVIEW GOOD - Angelina Jolie is ever watchable as Maleficent and steals each scene she is in, which thankfully is the majority of scenes - Elle Fanning is good again as Aurora, she plays the yin to Maleficents yang well and the two have good chemistry - The end fight scene was fun to watch, you could tell the whole movie was made around this big scene and the filmmakers chucked all of their budget on this sequence BAD - Without a doubt the most predictable movie of this year, there were so few shocks in this film that after every “turning” point I could easily see where the scenes were going, and even where the jokes were going - This film is so dark and this means that you cant even see what is going on for the majority of the time with the film mostly taking place in dark desolate locations - Up until the hour and 20 minute mark Im certain this film couldnt even tell you what the plot is. It wants to be a Maleficent sequel, a sleeping beauty continuation, and a war movie with fantasy beasts and humans, all rolled into one and it was just so messy - The writing was so bad at times to the point where the writers just added things that had no hints from the previous two films whatsoever and this was the most jarring things in the movie - This film also lacks originality with shots and ideas literally taken straight from other fantasy world movies and TV shows like Harry Potter or Game of Thrones and put straight into this film without any alteration at all 5/10 #maleficent #maleficent2 #maleficentmistressofevil #maleficentmovie #maleficent2mistressofevil #maleficent2movie #moviereview #filmreview #movie #film

I have to say this was a amazing sequel, they did well with starting where left off at. It was a sleeping beauty storyline like never before, let's just say darkness can sometimes be the light. The magical scenes, and fairytale adventures, were amazing to watch. The greed and power of some people, will never win. One thing I loved was Maleficent finding out she's not the only one any more, but she has powers no one else has, and you will see it all, become something new and exciting. The visual effects and fantasyland characters will wow you. I loved the little character ( pinto) great fun piece to add.
