I know I did a post like this last year but…. I’M BACK (& blonde again) and this time of year always reminds me of just how much pageantry has changed my life. Do you see the shyness in that second slide?? 🥹 Of course the growth from 8 to 28 is obvious and expected, but even year to year the personal growth and development that I experience is incredible. I’m very excited to be competing as Miss Mesa in the @missazusa pageant on May 26 & 27th! It’s a big step for me, and honestly, it still feels like a dream. 🥹 There’s always a challenge that comes with the choice of doing hard things! 🫣 Competing comes with some costs, and that’s where I could use your support. I’ve come up with a “Pick Your Price Fundraiser” to make it easy for anyone to help out! 🙏🏼 I’ve set up a cute grid with numbers 1 - 60, where each number represents a different donation amount. Pick any number, and that’s your contribution —$1 for number 1, $10 for number 10, and so on. The fun part — Combine multiple numbers for your total donation. 🙌🏼 For example, choosing 1 and 20 gives you a $21 donation. After a number is chosen, I’m crossing it off. From the moment I decided to join Miss Arizona, I was introduced to @phoenixantiagingclinic to help kick-start my fitness journey. 💪🏼 Honestly, I was having a hard time envisioning the end result given my body at the time. 🥹 Aware of the immense effort required and the tight timeframe, I knew I needed extra help. I had never tried body sculpting before, so this was a first for me. ✅ After 4 sessions with the proper diet and workouts (from my amazing personal trainer @ashleyluther_ifbbpro ) 🏋🏻♀️ — I am amazing by how I’m looking!! Beyond the body transformation, the EmSculpt Neo strengthened my core, which made working out at the gym much easier! (Okay maybe not easier but I have definitely been less fatigued!) Years ago I set three larger than life goals to accomplish within my 20s 1. Run a marathon 2. Solo travel internationally 3. Compete at Miss Arizona USA All of which felt so far out of reach as I wrote them down as a teenager. In honor of #martinlutherkingjrday I Have A Dream! Once upon a time, there was a girl who believed in her dreams. Little did she know she would be a part of history, going for her dreams! That one time I competed @missusa 🌟🇺🇸❤️ Sometimes it’s hard for me to believe that this actually happened!! Finally fulfilling a dream after 12 years of relentlessly pursuing it is unlike anything I’ve ever experienced. I am so grateful and will forever cherish the memories, friendships, challenges, and accomplishments made during my week at Miss USA. Here’s a few mems from the vault just because 🥰 1. My first day in Reno! I had some free time before it was time to check in to my official hotel room so I set up the tripod and got to work on “content” — a word that, for most of our class, is still triggering to this day 😂 I remember feeling so nervous though because I had yet to meet my roomie and the rest of the class! 2. Miss California USA 💖 I am so grateful @tiannasclark and I were roomies. We instantly connected over our careers in public service — her being in the military (badass!) and me, a police officer. We had TONS of laughs and she accepted me and all my quirks 😂 3. Sash Ceremony night 🎽 it was freezing and bit chaotic but so fun mingling with the girls. I wish I had gotten more pictures with everyone but I did manage to snap this one with my fave IN, WY, & NC queens before our many attempts at a group photo 📸 4. Tahoe day w/ Miss OH USA @macks.fit ✨ literally one of the sweetest humans! I’ll admit, I was exhausted and feeling a bit overwhelmed during this day. It was the first time where I was in my head and feeling some major imposter syndrome. But it was nice to get to know some new queens 💕 5. The A-Team! (L to R) AL, AK, AZ, & AR 🤎 my girls. Most of what we did was in alphabetical order so I got to spend a majority of my time with these three. And I’m so thankful that I did 🫶🏼 6. Swim shoot day! In my beautiful @emasavahl that literally molded to my body 😍 I was feeling so sick the morning of the shoot but my girls rallied around me and helped me get through the shoot! 7. If you’re in the midst of a difficult season, take a moment to read this. 🖤 I rediscovered a school project my sister wrote 7 years ago titled, More Than a Label. I launched @morethaninc years after she wrote this piece, reminding me that every season of your life happens for a reason. Court was one of the few who witnessed the pain behind my purpose. She inspired, motivated, cared for, grounded & believed in me when I didn’t believe in myself. She is the reason I’ve invested so much into bettering myself, why I’m so vocal about mental health & is hands down the biggest inspiration in all that I do. I try not to get stuck in the past, but her writing reminded me of my WHY. What I’ve built with More Than and The Fundamentals of Confidence is what I so desperately needed in that chapter of my life. Pageant girls come with a lot of stereotypes. I competed in my first pageant at 19 (enjoy these throwback photos) completely naive as to what this world entailed. Trust me when I say, it’s so much more than a beauty competition. Let me give you a little insight… Preparing for Miss USA becomes a full time job that requires insane discipline physically, mentally & emotionally. When you step onto that stage you’re being judged, not only on a professional level by the judges, but also by the millions of spectators at home and in the audience. It’s an incredible opportunity that many work years to achieve, but it also comes with a lot of pressure & unwarranted judgements. When I arrived at Miss USA I was blown away by the poise, confidence, intelligence, kindness, and drive these women had. Many were accomplished in their careers, and embodied what it means to be multifaceted. 51 beautiful women are putting themselves out there for the same goal and only 1 walks away achieving it. I’ve seen way too many women (me included) have their confidence destroyed because of ignorant comments and judgements after the competition. Unless you’ve been in this position, you may not understand the toll it takes having your body, beauty, and intelligence picked apart. As you watch Miss USA tonight I challenge you to view these women as the badasses they are. Admire the courage it takes to strut your stuff in a bikini on national television and to answer a random and always controversial question on stage. There’s a lot of pressure, and the added layer of trying not to become a headline or a meme is a lot. If you wouldn’t put yourself in that position, then don’t spend time critiquing or judging. My time as Miss AZ USA was one of the most exciting, challenging & beautiful chapters of my life. I know I wouldn’t be where I am today without that experience. You’re seeing a small fraction of each woman, but I can assure you each one is so much MORE THAN a pretty face.
