I was sent this beautiful performance by a friend and was asked what I see/feel when I listen to it(link in comments) My reply: I see vast fields and people working in the fields. It's almost the sunset, and the sky is intensely red and purple, not a cloud to be seen.The sun is taking up half of the sky and is burning with fiery orange colours. People are working with hay, gathering it together from all over the fields, organising hay into tall stacks. Everyone has their specific job to do,and yet they work as a tight team.The short bits of hay sticking out of the ground where it was cut are very sharp and sometimes scrape the workers' feet and legs.There is folk singing going on as they are working. It smells of hay, soil,and sweat.Overall, the smell is quite sweet if this is an appropriate description for a smell. The faster part of the music towards the end is when people have finished for the day and they carry their field working tools with them and start walking back home after a long day of working hard. They are tired but happy. They feel a strong sense of community and the goal accomplished. These are my own memories, actually. I used to be one of those people when I visited my grandparents in summer. I had the best childhood ever. The food that we grew was properly organic,and we had our own farm. I ran around bare-foot on the soft, intensely green grass, or the hard village roads; I brought the cows to the fields to graze on, I then milked our cows and drank the super fresh milk; I jumped into the river Strv'yazh from the steep banks and swam for hours, playing with my friends in the river and competing who can do a better jump from the bank. I climbed trees, especially those cherry, pear,and apple trees ,and ate the fruit while still sitting on a tree branch until my belly was so full, it couldn't possibly fit another cherry.Nothing will ever compare to the freedom and taste of my childhood 💛🩵 PS:The photo is of my mum, my sister and me taking turns to help each other stretch out our spines after a long day working in the field 💚 PPS: How interesting, traditional music from a very different culture has woken up memories from my 🇺🇦childhood

Clive Campbell (born April 16, 1955), better known by his stage name DJ Kool Herc, is a Jamaican American DJ who is credited with contributing to popularizing hip hop music in the Bronx, New York City, in the 1970s. Campbell began playing hard funk records of the sort typified by James Brown whom he said he took inspiration from. ✨🖤 Campbell began to isolate the instrumental portion of the record which emphasized the drum beat—the "break"—and switch from one break to another. Using the same two-turntable set-up of disco DJs, he used two copies of the same record to elongate the break. This breakbeat DJing, using funky drum solos, formed the basis of hip hop music. Campbell's announcements and exhortations to dancers helped lead to the syncopated, rhythmically spoken accompaniment now known as rapping. 🎤🎵 He called the dancers "break-boys" and "break-girls", or simply b-boys and b-girls.
