God Stories: Alyssa, @tangneytribe In my early twenties I took everything on myself, controlling everything from jobs, relationships, schedules, even faith. I identified as an agnostic. I always said “I have things under control” so why would I need a relationship with God? Well one thing after another, stress, infertility, miscarriage, marriage - things started to get heavy. Taking all that on my shoulders left me no where to go. A friend invited me to church and amidst struggling to get pregnant, family tribulations, feeling something missing - I decided to go. Months later I was baptized. Committing my life to Jesus and bringing my family closer to Him and rooting ourselves in community has been life changing. When winter came, I was super excited to shoot in the snow! But as it was here, not many people were interested in shooting in the cold. But that was okay, that just meant I had to look for people who would bare the cold with me for awesome photos! I’ve had this vision in my head for awhile but just didn’t act on it yet & I knew if I didn’t do it, I would regret it and it would be too late. So I asked my cousin within a day notice and she was down without a hesitation! So the results, these photos were perfectly executed in what I had in my head & more! Start from downdog in tippy toes with your legs a bit wide. Take your (in this case) right knee high up on your right tricep keeping right arm straight and hips high (core!) and once you find stability, try to extend your left arm up. I find it a bit disheartening because the yogis being mocked may very well be people I admire and consider my yoga inspiration because they're beautiful, graceful and have a strong practice. So to whoever makes fun of other yogis just because they do sponsorships, have an amazing practice and look damn good doing it, while it's all in the spirit of fun (I do admit some are quite hilarious) and being hurtful wasn't the intention, well in the end, I think it just makes you look bitter as hell 😄 🙏🏼 PS: Check out my what I'm doing in my #photographypassionproject -@jennmphotography ... namaste.

The pose begins when you want to get out of it - Baron Baptiste 🙏🏼 I love this quote and this pose is a perfect example of it and boy, was my core working full time here 😓 Try to get into it by coming into forward fold first then walk your hands backwards as far as they will go. Come onto fingertips and then lean back, keeping your feet firmly planted on the floor while engaging and lifting your core muscles. I interrupt regular programming to share a #photographypassionproject I did last year. I have since debated whether to post this on this account but this month marks my 5th year of practicing yoga so why not? I combined two things I love - photography 📷 and yoga 🤸🏽♀️ and was fortunate enough to be friends with 5 lovely yogis who let me photograph them in their favorite asanas in the very same places I photograph my clients. ~ ONE OF MY WHYS ~ This one was a big one. I always knew there was something special about holding a tangible photo in your hand... but this one hit home. My dad was a man of few photos of himself (arent many of us these days).. when he passed away, our extended family got together. Yes we had a few digital images from recent events but other than that he was a very closed man. All we really had to piece together his story was a few of our scattered stories he shared with each of us and a box of prints with writing on the back of some of them. To have this time to search through this treasure chest of stories never told, was absolutly amazing. It made me think... WHAT ARE WE GOING TO HAVE TO PASS DOWN..EVEN 5 YEARS FROM NOW! As our digital images (if not printed) will be on discs, usbs, phones, computers and hardrives that will be no longer readable or relevant. So this is my first WHY! So PRINT YOUR PHOTOS PEEPS... have fun with it. Next story or idea shared will be a more fun light hearted one... promise xo Tag someone you know that already does a great job of printing their photos xo
