You will often catch these little acrobats flaunting their talent for scaling tree trunks and branches with ease, defying gravity as they move headfirst up and down. Sometimes, you might even spot them hanging upside down beneath branches or along the undersides of limbs, all thanks to their strong legs and specialized feet. Their unique foot structure features one prominent toe, known as the hallux, which points backward, while the other three toes point forward. This clever design enables them to navigate down tree trunks headfirst, moving one foot at a time while the hallux toe of the other foot maintains a secure grip. While they may be common sights, I never tire of watching these little acrobats skillfully maneuver up and down tree trunks.
