The Rasun Library’s upper floor is designer Moonsick Gang’s studio. As the Rasun Library(@rasunlibrary) aims to be an alternative reading room and project space, Moonsick also introduced me to his design studio, exhibition space, and workshop space, which are not conventional. At the Art Book Fair in Singapore (@singaporeartbookfair), which I visited with The Book Society (@tbs_book_society), we explored various independent publishers from Southeast Asia. Spending time with Robert from Spector Books (@spectorbooks) was also lovely! On this trip to Singapore, we had the chance to immerse ourselves in Singapore's publishing culture. We visited the Temporary Unit's studio (@temporaryunit) and bookshop to get a glimpse of their publishing methods and attitudes and the designers and artists working closely with the Allegro printing house (@allegro_print) to create experimental and high-quality prints. We also visited the wares infoshop library (@waresinfoshop) to see how they share their knowledge through books. We also received many book donations on this trip and would like to take this opportunity to thank you again. Common Imprint is not established to archive books related to specific academic subjects. As a platform for the public interested in contemporary Asian independent publications and publishing culture and wants to create various channels for communicating this culture. Therefore, the first criterion for selecting books for the Common Imprint is multilingual accessibility. The second criterion is whether the topic and content of the book explain the regional background of the country where it is published and give insights into its cultural characteristics. Lastly, the third criterion is that the book focuses on the format, production, and design, as the perspective was how actively and experimentally the content and design were utilized within the restricted structure of a book. From this trip, we got over 200 books from The Book Society.
