A favorite #MuseumOfTheBench trading card is one that’s honored with a Kcymaerxthaere marker called #WaitingForTheGrwost, in linear Grand Rapids, Michigan. “In Kcymaerxthaereal times, what we call the Grand River (and the population of Aywatin gwome called the Lekcenne) followed the entire shared border, entering Lake Michigan far south of where it does today. The ywreng (or time frontier) ran roughly down the middle of the river. The safest way to cross was under the guidance of a grwost (popularly known as Time Guides), but they were not always available. This simple bench was where travellers waited to engage their services. Did You Know? Though one of the first benches Park Lee af collected, he did not install it in Broadshyde sector, but far away in what became Saygollin- suggesting the scope of his ambition.” collection locale: Along the Lekcenne rezhn: Kymaerica (s) distrykt: nMichigan gwome: Aywatin culture: Aywatin DoF: (linear equivalent unknown) material: brick and pessl type: zhenk sector: Saygollin #kcymaerxthaere #museumofthebenchcontest #tgibenchdaycontest #tgibenchday #benchesqroundtheworld #benchesoftheworld #benchesoftheworldunite #benches_aroundtheworld #benches_of_the_world_unite

Explorer and illustrator @grahammaremaaart created this #DisputedLikeness of #Grwostlaven, one of five markers installed in linear Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA. You may remember their illustration of #WaitingForTheGrwost from a few weeks back. This marker expands on the narrative of the Grwost, or Time Guide, creatures who guide their charges safely through multiple dimensions, especially time. Needless to say, with a frontier as legendary as the one between Erailen and Aywatin, there was much call for grwosts. Grwostlaven was full of saloons and boardinghouses where travelers could find the guides they needed (a bit different than the process across what we call the Grand River). Thank you, Graham, for yet another delightful Disputed Likeness! #hopcatgrandrapids #hopcat #Kcymaerxthaere #installationart #artinstallation #AtlasObscura #conceptualart #publicart #multidisciplinaryart #illustration #Grwost #benches #illustrationartist

In honor of the first #TGIBenchDay of the linear month of May, we’re featuring this lovely #DisputedLikeness by artist and explorer Graham Marema @grahammaermaaart. This curved brick bench is said to have been very much like the one that existed here during Kcymaerxthaereal times, and it was a place where travelers on this side of the River Lekcenne waited for a grwost. A grwost is a kind of time guide. This was one of Park Lee Taf’s first in his collection for the #MuseumOfTheBench, so this bench that exists here today in our linear world is speculated to be the very replica he left in its place. Thank you, Graham, for your wonderful Kcy explorations through linear Grand Rapids and beyond, as well as your explorations of this very story in your illustration. #WaitingForTheGrwost #Kcymaerxthaere #installationart #artinstallation #AtlasObscura #conceptualart #publicart #multidisciplinaryart #illustration #TGIBenchDayContest #ParkLeeTaf #Grwost #benches

On Monday we shared a little bit about the founder of the #MuseumOfTheBench (the xthaere-trotting Park Lee Taf) and how his expansive 430,000 acre facility came to be. Here marks a site where Park Lee Taf procured one of his very early dioramas. Swipe to see the curved brick bench as it stands today in its impeccably replicated form. In addition to this place being a site of one of his initial benches, not very far away is the River Lekksenne. The history of this place was, of course, intimately related to that the ywreng (a sort of time frontier, or chronofrontier) that roughly approximated the path of the river. A similar place of waiting, with more tragic consequences, can be found about a mile upriver at Forest’s Rest. #WaitingForTheGrwost #kcymaerxthaere #tgibenchday #installationart #publicart #seetheworldfresh #conceptualart #3dstorytelling #storytelling #visualstorytelling #globarlartwork #atlasobscura #landart #landarts

Buried Kcy treasures Part II in the Aywatin #gwome at a perfect example of an Aywatin bench. #WaitingForTheGrwost was also buried underneath the weekend winter whirlwind in what we call linear Grand Rapids, which was revealed again by local #GeographerAVS. A #grwost is a sort of time guide, and at this bench, travelers on this side of the #LekksenneRiver would wait for them — though for now we might be waiting for the thaw first. This marker is 1 of 5 in the linear Grand Rapids #KcyCluster, but only four are exposed to the Michigan weather. #kcymaerxthaere

“Waiting for the Grwost”.....to thaw! A little over six weeks ago this marker was buried under half a foot of snow. One of our Geographers in Grand Rapids has been keeping tabs on its slow reveal (along with its corresponding bench). #waitingforthegrwost #kcymaerxthaere #museumofthebench
